As opposed to what, the really bad ones like this?

To be honest I've only ever had one Bush LCD telly, and that was my first purchase of a flatscreen LCD many years ago. It was attrocious, and I exchanged it for a Mikomi, which was excellent. So my experience with Bush LCD's is tarnished somewhat.

I'm not a basher of cheaper brand tellies, as some are excellent in my opinion. Bush might have got their act together now.

Well, I didn't mean it like that as if this TV was one of the best, was just letting bigmo_uk know that alot of TV's come as 50Hz and is not a bad thing.
I do know what you mean about the cheaper brand TV's, I don't own this so I can't comment on it but the specs seem good enough, and at this price for a 40" can't really complain. Also the reviews on Argos, even though they are not professional, they are all pretty good which is an indication that this could be a decent TV for this price.

This is 1080 full HD so if you want to watch DVD's especially blue ray it should be OK and if you want to watch sd which most probably will for majority of the time then at 40 inches it will be no different from your LG's, Samsungs, Sony's and Panasonics. People forget that by increasing size you lose SD quality.

At least with Argos you can whip it back to the shop easy enough if turns out to be a total POS

I recently got a 40" Full HD Digimate (DGM) after seeing the deal posted on here. Even though there was a few negative brand snobbery comments, the telly - which i'm currently using to view HUKD on -t urned out to be a great buy. PS3 looks mint on it, so cheapo brands can be more than decent.

@ Mighty Anorak, that's a fair comment. My mate got a spanky new 47" LCD Toshiba, nearly sent it back cos' he thought it was faulty when he viewed standard definition broadcasts on it. Until I explained! lol

some of the worst tvs out there are 1080p sets.
as for being no different at that size, we have some cheap nasty generic branded kack at work next to the LGs and Samsungs.
I know what I'd rather spend my hard earned on.
the digitrex that Currys sell will be on par with this at 399
rather have the LG hd-ready plasma 379 and see a much much better picture than this washed out, smeary colour, backlight bleeding LCD crap.
