"Bush 42in 200Hz Full HD Digital LCD TV £399.99 @ Argos"

The only good BUSH is a furry one ;-)

Seems like a good deal to me for a 42 inch, too many folk write these tv's off but Ive had a 32inch in my room for about 2 years and never had a problem,of course Samsung and Sony are probably better.
#3
Every Bush thing I have had has never been all that great and self-destructed just outside the warranty period.

I always thought there really wasn't that much difference between quality branded tv's and budget brands. I mean, surely they'd have the same innerds for the most part and you're paying for the name?? :whistling:

But recently i've realised that there IS a big difference. I have a 3 year old Sony 32 inch HD Ready LCD TV and had to hand it over to the fiance after her new Technika 32 inch HD Ready LCD TV would keep losing signal on ITV and Channel 4 on its Freeview tuner as if it couldn't get a strong enough signal.

Put my Sony in its place and every channel works fine. Her channels work ok back at mine which proves that her TV needs a strong signal for the tuner to work properly on. Got her TV back to mine and realised how much poorer it was. Cheaper plastic casing, I couldn't get 2 high quality scart leads in at the same time as the slots were too close together so had to resort to thinner poundland ones. But far worse was the grainy picture, poor low light quality and generally an abysmal picture quality whether using expensive or cheap leads.:x

You get what you pay for sometimes, be wary:?

I bought a Samsung for this price, 37 inch, was one of the hot deals months back. Its got awful sound quality, worse than any TV I have ever owned.

Although I would never buy a cheap TV, especially all the Technika woes I hear from by working at Tesco.
#6
I have had a BUSH television for the last 5 years and prior to that it was my mothers and have never had a problem with it until now where it has started dipping in sound! Not bad considering it is at least 8/9+ years, I would definately consider buying another BUSH!

Quality..:p

I had a bush 21" tv for something like 8 years never missed a beat, gave it to a mate and he's still using it to this day must be over 10 years old now..

Nothing wrong with an older Bush..

a bush is a bush,as long as it plays my favourite"enter the minja" iam happy.:)
#9
Bush are a load of balls..
#11
It's the luck of the draw, Bush don't make anything these days it's a name that is stuck onto products made for them. So one model may be well made and another model may be from another budget OEM manufacturer and may be junk.

All these budget products are the same, even some of the better brands just buy in and badge the low cost items.

Sometimes brands that actuall make their own products may well perform better and last longer and will probably have better product developement to get the best performance but you'll always get a budget TV owner that has no problems for 15 years yet a Sony/Panasonic/JVC owner has a product that blows up after 15 months.

ditto...mine went the same...did manage to get a replacement even though i didnt have xtended warranty thanks to the good advice on here..needless to say i didnt go for another Bush model
#13
]Dont beat yourself up we can do that for you. I have a bush 22 inch had for about 7 years with no probs at all. Good price for a 42 inch telly.
#14
i dont like bush i prefer shaven heaven
#15
Pffffttt. Just because a TV is 1080p and has 200hz doesnt mean its going to produce a good picture.
#16
you cant go wrong if its 200hz

Can't say I can agree with that at all. What's with the go easy on me as I don't post much malarky. Man or a mouse? lol

Anyway good on the op for posting this deal, £399 isn't bad for a 42". I'd rather see it in action first though.

Samsungs are renowned for having poor sound, but that's fixed with some external speakers - even get a set of 2.1 PC speakers.

never admit you bought a bush, you pay for the bush you goes to jail.

How do you turn the bush on - I can't find the button :w00t::w00t:
#22
Bush aren't good manufacturers. I work in product development myself and with electrical equipment you can cut lots of legitimate corners in design and manufacture for the sake of reducing cost. These cuts in production inevitably do have an impact on the quality or longevity of the product.

There will ALWAYS be the few that buy a Sony or Panasonic that turns out to be the lemon, and as human beings like to complain, inevitably you will get the 'horror story' about the item that cost a lot, 'blew up' (love that term) and then the buyer got poor support. For most people, the good brands are very reliable and as a tech fan myself, I will always buy kit from the renowned manufacturers.

I agree with JohnBall, get a smaller screen for similar money; you'll probably end up with a better picture and you'll have a much higher chance of owning a durable TV.

Seems like there's a few 11 year olds on here having a laugh with the sexual connotations of the word Bush, which only they find amusing. Ok we've done that now move on :)

Who put you in charge :whistling:
Traffic warden???

Snatch is my favorite film, looks good on the bush. Some people prefer a smaller Bush some don't like to have a bush at all. I've had mine in the bedroom for about 11 years now without a problem but it makes the odd funny noise :-)

It's the old goldfish bowl shape 22" and due to be replaced soon, cracks and fizzes so it could be a fire hazard?
This could be a good replacement, I think it's hot.
#25
Hot for price but poor make, probably better deals coming up.
#26
lol you said bush
#27
200hz... Does that mean it will be 3D compatible? Wouldn't mind a bush in 3D :D

It's not a 3d bush
#29
This isn't a bad tv, but as previously stated it's best to buy a better brand, which in theory should last longer. In general, skimping on price with lcd tv's isn't a good idea, so best to spend a little bit more imho.
#30
Most of the so called top brands seem to be prone to some sort of niggle or fault,
paid £350 for a 32" Toshiba HD Ready and that was not brilliant so this looks
a fair price for what your getting.Hot:-D
#31
Personally I would never go for this why?
bad brightness,
bad contrast,
bad make,
most importantly its a bad branded LCD and although lcds have come a long way at this size you really want a plasma for the better contrast and refresh rates

Soemthing like this is much better for the same price

http://www.richersounds.com/product/plasma-tv/lg/42pq3000/lg-42pq30starstar

yes its not 1080p but that is not important any ps3 bluray ets will look much better on this plasma than the bush lcd why? because the colours/movement/brightness are miles ahead and from any reasonable seating position you wont even be able to see the difference in pixel density.

Also a lower res is actually better when your using sd stuff which im guessing most people mainly do anyway
#32
Should never buy bush. Save a few more pennies and go for a proper brand!
#33
......both not "full hd"....i've had my Tevion (aldi) for over four years now and has been a brilliant tv;-)

out of stock now

Is there a funny smell or odour? Could be dangerous for your health.

(sorry, I wasn't going to join in but...)
#36
Bush is the worst television I have ever had, the speakers are terrible and make an awful buzzing noise, it was a 26' one right enough but was same type or model.

It doesn't matter if they're not 'full hd'. 95% of people on here probably won't even watch anything in 'full hd' on it (probably at least for a couple of years).

That, and a good 720p set with excellent processing/quality panel, will have a much, much better display than a cheapy bodge 1080p set.

Your Tevion has been a brilliant set? And what in particular are you comparing it to... your 21" CRT you had before that? If you're happy with it, fine by me, but don't go claiming things are brilliant if you have no idea about what you're comparing it to.

Too many people want a big TV just because its a TV, and its big. Thats well chavy. Buy quality over quantity everytime.

PS the person who said buy plasma instead of LCD - yes its true, for SD/films plasma is a much better alternative than LCD. However, if you're plugging consoles etc into them, LCD is better. EEK @ burn-in.

jeez..presumptious or what?......got any better stats?

im sure 95% on here are buying a HD telly to watch it

Argos now own BUSH, hence now being classed as a "crap" brand. Cheap for 42inch 200Hz though, can't knock it at this price.
