Product code: 533/7589 (My computer doesn't like the HotUKDeals affiliate link used with Argos for some reason).

Did a search and couldn't find it posted at this price, so don't shout at me if it's already been posted :)

Good find, the price is actually £97.86 with the new vat rate, price is reduced at checkout.
#4
anyone have a link to a review of this machine - Googling didn't return anything useful
#5
£5 gift voucher of course, or £10 if you add something else for a couple of quid.
#6
Is this any good? Aint heard of it before... heat added.....
#7
Based on a samsung according to the AV forums.
#8
Well in theory it should be spot on because no matter what other people say or whathifi, it's a complete digital process from film to screen so it works or it dont.

In reality it's Bush and they might have used **** components.

So you pay your money, you take your choice.

Seeing as this only upscales to full HD and I was lucky enough to get one of the Sony players from John Lewis for £99 for a mates dad then I'd be reluctant to get this at the mo and wait til others fall inline and reduce their prices.

the upscaling will just be for the dvds, BR are already processed at that definition

Ah ok I stand corrected and thanks for that but my excuse is I've not been up long :whistling:

Thought this would be hotter, not seen a blu-ray player for under 100 before

It would be hotter if it wasn't a Bush.
#14
Are HDUkers not fans of hot bush? Lol sorry i couldn't resist.
#15
Even if it konks out after a year it's worth £97 isn't it?
#16
Shame it's only stereo
#17
Or can you get surround through the HDMI?
#18
Just reserved one at my local Argos...will let ya know if it's any good.

yes you can, again bluray minus surround sound would be pointless its not just about the picture quality ya know

I don't think you can, surround normally is output via optical. It's not clear whether this has optical out.

why not get a decent sony model which is far superior for an extra 50 quid that will last more than a year?

you can get surround through hdmi, whether its proper hd sound from this i doubt it from this kind of model
#23
I didn't even know that Bush produced BD players. :whistling:
#24
Why are Argos trying to ship all their stock on this player? I got completely frozen when I posted at a higher price (understandably now granted...!!).
http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/287122/bush-bd01-blu-ray-disc-player-argos

It can't be that good a piece of kit...
#25
That the first sub £100 BluRay player I've seen. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come. I kind of set myself a bench mark of £80, so once I can get a decenet brand player (would like a Samsung) for that price, then I'll jump on the BR bandwagon.

my 1st DVD player was a bush and cost me £149.99 thats when a sony was still £300 and its still going strong after 8years so have had no trouble with the bush brand
#27
After not a lot of time passes...you're going to see a nasty, manky looking Bush down below, and it's going to put you off loading anything into it.

Wait a while and you can buy a decent brand in a month or so for the same price.
#28
Personally I wouldn't touch a bush product with a barge pole, but if you're not too bothered about quality then I guess this is a good price to get you on the Blu-Ray bandwagon. Our neighbour has a Bush LCD TV and it looks garbage compared to our Toshiba. I think on hi-tech products like this it's worth shelling out the extra for a good brand name but that's just my opinion.
#29
I'm still enjoying my £50 toshiba hd-dvd with 5 dvds. Got a library of 30-40 films and not spent much more than a tonne!
#30
I purchased a cheapo DVD player for about £200 originally and this is a great entry level blu-ray player..

Hot!

However I have a PS3 :)
#31
Better off getting the S350 from Asda at £171. Tip the box to make sure the 3 discs are in. Sell them for £40+ (Player now £131) and sell the 2 redemption ones for £15 when they arrive. Makes the player about £115, much better quality and features. A lot of hassle i know compared to getting the Bush but worth it for a far superior player
#32
you wont get £40plus for 3 blu-ray discs! Too much hassle 3 weeks before Christmas
#33
Also if you sell the BD that come with it, you won;t have anything to watch! :)
#34
its about time for a price cut for PS3 is it not now blu ray has dropped in price to produce for Sony???

i just wish they would add ps2 backwards compatability back into the PS3 and lower the price to below £190, as there are some exclusives on the Ps3 i wouldnt mind playing and i also have a huge PS2 library of games to play still, i would only buy exclusives for the Ps3 rest would be bought on Xbox 360 :)

and the Wii is still blinking £180 still needs a price drop badly that does as i want one but am still waiting on price drop lol been 2 years now still waiting....
#35
I would hang on with this item as Argos have complete control of the price of this unit and it is very likely that £79.99 maybe even £49.99 will follow shortly if no one gives in a buys it @99 for a few weeks that ain't gonna happen as walk in off the street consumers will pay £99 (well 97.86) for TAT
#36
There is no evidence whatsoever that this is samsung based machine. Also is it BD profile 2? Of course it is not, I doubt it is even profile 1.1. Yes it is a good price but is it a good product?
A Blu-ray player should be lasting you about 5 years or more so spend an extra £60-£70 and get a sony bdp250.
#37
Just a quick note to those that are not familiar with BluRay region coding, as I wasn't before i got my PS3, the UK is part of region B, but most BluRay discs produced don't have any region coding. Here's a VERY handy link to check whether a disc is region coded or not! http://bluray.liesinc.net/
#38
Voted hot from me, i have a ps3 though so will not be buying

No

Shops have to sell things to make money and if they were overpriced they wouldn't do much selling, this player was overpriced before so they probably had to drop the price to start selling. All blu-ray players are overpriced atm unless you manage to pick up a player with free discs.

That doesnt look too likely I'm afraid

http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/Business/Electronics-Firm-Sony-To-Increase-Its-Prices-In-The-UK-Sky-News-Learns/Article/200811315157341?lpos=Business_News_Your_Way_Region_4&lid=NewsYourWay_ARTICLE_15157341_Electronics_Firm_Sony_To_Increase_Its_Prices_In_The_UK%2C_Sky_News_Learns

Apparently the value of Sterling dropping means they're losing more money than ever on UK sales. Article linked doesnt mention PS3, but i'd imagine Sony wont be able to afford any price drop unless the Sterling increases significantly.
