Not true. Homebase/Argos have two Bush boxes:

standard box SD

HD box

The HD box is £4 cheaper at Homebase but you have to pay £5.80 for delivery (total £62.59).

You can pick up the box from Argos for £59.99. I'm afraid this makes the Homebase offer cold.

Why any1 would want to pay for a freesat box just to receive a few bbc1 and rare itv channels is beyond me. I tried a humax hd box and too be honest the extra picture quality was not so great. All this HD versus SD is just a ploy by Dixons and others to make us spend more money on things we don't really need....IMHO.

Probably because by buying this box instead of paying for a sky hd subscription it will pay for itself in a matter of months.

If your new to sky they want £79 one off costs supposedly and then minimun package cost of £27.25 per month so really before you've even paid for your first month at sky this is cheaper. If there is already a dish hanging off your wall then a one off payment of £60 to recieve hd content is a bargain price.

That said if you go to humax website and buy their hd box your going to be even happier. Spend the money your not giving sky on happiness

Or better still don't even buy this and have even more happiness watching more than acceptable picture quality on SD. As already pointed out there is very little to watch on Freesat in HD anyway!

I've just been to Argos and picked up their Bush HD box for £59.99.

Ran a length of old coax cable from the garage between the box and a spare output on my Sky+ dish (the Sky+ box uses two of the outputs, but my dish "LNB" has four outputs...) and I'm now getting a brilliant picture.

On my 1080P full HD television, you can really tell the picture difference.

For just £60 with no ongoing subscription, just for watching the BBC and ITV programmes in HD that I would normally watch anyway - this is a great buy.

Yes you can get better boxes - the Humax box can be got for £95 and the forums sy this is better quality and you can pay a lot more for an HD recorder, but the Bush box provides a great HD picture and for the same one-off cost as a tank of petrol or one decent night out, you can't go wrong....
