Great idea! I'm out of work and would love to set one up as a small business (coffee shop etc.) The only problem for me is that I don't live near one which has enough footfall. Would like one in London, but apparently you need one close by in order to qualify?

Yes me. I'm turning mine into a changing room fitted with a superhero costume vending machine, so you really do see people stepping out of telephone boxes dressed as superman.

Or maybe I'm just lying...

5200 rpm no thanks
will stick to an ssd
Good luck finding an SSD at this capacity and money.

I'd buy one for my desktop, 5,200rpm is perfectly reasonable for a storage drive, but I just had a WD 6tb one die on me. I'm grieving over the data I lost.... All that porn took me ages to find.

Cause it fits...you can make owt fit with a wee bit of gaffa tape and bailing twine.... sorted......and so retro ;)

What's the largest capacity that will fit in a PS4 then?

Do is this 10bit panel or 8???

Anything with a 10bit panel around this price or max.£900?
I purchased the 50inch 4k Hiense and was slightly skeptical a couple weeks back before taking the plunge for 370ish and so far its been amazing! as soon as I plugged her in it was asking me to perform an update to allow for HDR support so there is now an option to select this. Have been watching some Netflix and some Blu-ray movies and it really does look stunning. I owned a 43 inch 1080p Samsung before this which was similarly priced back when I bought it so very happy :)
They put the price up (_;)
So what is the major difference between this and the H55M3300 and is it worth paying £200 extra for?
I keep being drawn to these Hisense deals they certainly are priced and spec'd well for the £700 mark against similar LG and Samsung models. 55" is probably the biggest I would want to go with.

Look like amazon and ebuyer have knocked a quid off the price. This isn't a deal it is about normal price and the box isn't very good. £65 I recently paid for for a zyxel nsa-325 v2 was well worth the extra.
I disagree about it not being good - I put two 4TB disks in mine, it formatted and set the RAID up in about 10 minutes, and I installed MiniDLNA server app on it and now have network accessible storage over Gigabit LAN with streaming capabilities, and I don't need to go near the App or the Web Interface - it just works. It's quiet, cool and fast.
Google Drive has never worked.
The support mechanism is to phone them - no direct support through the DLink forum which states it's for USA owners although luckily this is ignored.
The individual who creates additional addons has no financial support or any other support from DLink yet without him the DLink NAS is nothing more than a LAN storage device that might play some media files.
Had one for 18months.
Would I recommend? Hell no
And let's not forget if you own an IP cam to use their MySurveillance tool it must be a DLink camera (overpriced).
As to the price - it's normal
Oh I nearly forgot! I was informed in one discussion that the 320L is possibly coming to EOL (End Of Life) meaning firmware updates might not be released.

What I fail to understand is what do you gain by having a business contract?
If it was a multi-line shared contract or the free calls included everything except 09 numbers then maybe a deal.
I just don't see why you'd stay on that type of contract for 1 user.

what controller? I'd guess it was a fakeraid-type one, that actually relies on drivers to do all the work inside an OS rather than a true hardware card.

Yeah, it was. Not that it was advertised that way to me, when I bought it, of course. But then, I knew a lot more about RAID by the time I was finished than I did going into it, not that any of it helped me.
I'm running one of these with a BTRFS array. The biggest limitation is it only takes 4 x 3.5" drives and a 2.5" SSD under the optical... so you can't have huge disk array. I've got another caddy to turn the optical+SSD bay into another 3.5" bay. Onboard it only has 5xSATA ports too.

Forums are full of people who've lost data with raid 5, software and hardware..
I lost data to RAID5. 3 disks, and I lost everything. Controller failure as far as I can tell, at any rate the disks were all fine and carried on for years after a reformat.
Basically one disk just got dropped, and the controller refused to either pick it up or build onto another disk.
Had no backups, because it was all stuff that wasn't critical so it's not so much of a sob story as a cautionary tale, but my word it was irritating at the time. Tried everything to get it to rebuild, and in the end just gave it up as a bad job.
So my experience of RAID5 is that it's a bloody liability.

what controller? I'd guess it was a fakeraid-type one, that actually relies on drivers to do all the work inside an OS rather than a true hardware card.

It's another reason to go with software RAID though - it can be tricky (one wrong move during a tricky recovery and your data is toast), but if you know what you're doing you can recover pretty much anything without being dependent on a particular set of hardware, disk interface or even operating system.

Any idea of the delivery charges on them? Amazon are doing these from £79.98 delivered just now vs. £79 from BT. Maybe that why some people voted cold, dunno.

Not sure, but the amazon ones do not have a link to the cashback offer. (so are they eligible?)

Yep

They still dont have the link on the £50 though, also could there be possible comeback if ordering from amazon
Purchases from auction websites (e.g. eBay) or marketplace sales through retail websites (e.g. Amazon Marketplace or Play Trade) are specifically excluded from this Promotion.

It shouldn't but the BT one may be worth while for not having on any dispute about where or whom it was purchased from.

Just don't order it from the marketplace. If the seller and supplier says Amazon, then all is good.

The WD Ultra is worth the premium price IMO - currently ~£95 on Amazon. I will probably bite once it drops under £90.

This however, is not the Ultra model.
£95.79 delivered.

amazon is £94.48 delivered from a marketplace seller (fulfilled by amazon).

Edited By: supertight on Dec 18, 2013 16:04
Im sure you can get one for cheaper
Bear in mind that the Samsung portable (2.5") drives are often down as low as £79.99
eg
http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/samsung-m3-slimline-2tb-usb-3-0-portable-hard-drive-amazon-79-98-1728799

(This deal has expired, although the drive remains available for under £84 delivered).

Given this, you'd have to have a pretty clear reason for wanting to buy the WD.

No 120 version to compare, so I added a kingston v300 240GB vs samsung 840 250GB

Cant really comment on reliability since I dont own any of these 2 drive.
It's faster, sata3 vs sata2. Same 3-year guarantee. Check out SSD charts on tom's hardware.

The £648 one is a series 5, and the claim form specifically asks for a series 9. Might be an error on the website for the series 5 model ....
£648 with vat for this laptop is still cheap and youn get a tablet that is worth about £120 !!!
Ice cold... the laptops look cheap until you add VAT and then they are way more than elsewhere.
"Samsung7" Galaxy Tablet worth £199"

Good bit of kit, but available in many places for less than £120.
Can't comment on the deal, as I know nothing about the laptops - just pointing out the "freebie" isn't worth as much as they're indicating.

Not voted.
