Hmm the title suggests that you're buying the airtime and they're throwing in a free phone so i would think it'd be a top-up voucher - but i could be wrong, im not really too sure... "Buy £20 or more Orange airtime and get the Orange Nokia 1661 for free."

I will let you know later if the phone is unlocked.

I can use Virgin top-up vouchers to pay monthly bills (e.g sim only contracts), can one do the same with orange vouchers?

The phone is indeed locked to Orange, I tried an o2 sim and it displayed an invalid sim message. Now to see how easy it is to unlock this baby!

There's no free way to unlock it so better to use one of those i-smart sims,

Offer isn't showing on argos site anymore? Must be expired early?

Is the 'sealed voucher' in a dvd type case?

I am going to call orange from my sisters phone (orange contract) and say I bought the phone for travelling, can I have an unlock code..

Woman said in store the offer is on until the 6th, she had a sheet beside the till explaining the offer. I would still try it, ask to speak to a manager if there is a problem as they are more likely to know about the promotion.

Not a DVD case, its a piece of cardboard about the size of a credit card in a sealed plastic sleeve.

Worth a try with orange but most likely they will still want to charge you for an unlock code,

That sealed cardboard 'top up' is like the ones they gave before in dvd boxes,it doesn't have an actual top up code inside like the paper voucher you got,it involves ringing up to activate £10 and it can only go onto the sim that came with the orange phone,

They will probably also ask for the imei no of the phone,it wont work with any other simcard,

The paper voucher is better as you can top up any phone with that

You are right, I just added the £10 to the sim card it came with. I sold the £10 paper voucher for £7.50 already. So £12.50 for a phone with £10 credit - not bad at all!
I will try calling orange for an unlock code tomorrow from my sisters number, will let you know how I get on.

Since you've topped the sim up with £10 you may as well take advantage of one of their animal tariffs for a month, gets free texts, calls or music etc for 30 days,

Choose dolphin, canary, monkey, camel or whatever and dial 343 to activate

http://shop.orange.co.uk/shop/all_payg_plans

You may as well make use of it,you get to use that and still keep your £10 intact,

Or if your intending to sell the sim it'll help it sell a bit better ;-)

Cheers, went for monkey. Going to use the phone for a few weeks until my sim unlock adapter arrives to use on my iphone with my new vodafone contract. Have some rep.
