I foolishly bought a Dash Button the other day for £4.99 to hack it to turn my Hue lights on but didnt read that you needed a PC running all the time so thought oh dear wasted £4.99. Just went onto Amazon to buy some guitar strings and the £4.99 came off so happy days. I would guess it will work on any purchase as the Dash button I bought was for muscle food. So I ended up with a free Dash button. Oh and I didnt use the button, I got my £4.99 back as a promo credit on the Amazon site so didnt need to use the button at all.

WHAT IS DASH BUTTON?
Amazon Dash Button is a Wi-Fi-connected device that reorders your favourite product with the press of a button. Each Dash Button is paired with a product of your choice, which is selected during the setup process. When you're running low, simply press Dash Button—ensuring you never run out of your essentials again.

SIMPLE TO SET UP AND USE
Dash Button is set up and managed through the Amazon App on your Android or iOS smartphone, and works in any location with a Wi-Fi connection. Once setup is complete, a notification (if enabled) is sent to your smartphone every time an order is placed. Click here to make sure you have the latest version of the Amazon App.

ORDER PROTECTION
With this setting, Dash Button will not place a new order until your prior order is delivered—regardless of how many times Dash Button is pressed. In addition, you will receive an order notification (if enabled) for every order placed, allowing you to cancel an order before it is dispatched. You have a free return policy here for products purchased through Dash Button.

£4.99 DISCOUNT AFTER FIRST PRESS
Buy Dash Button for £4.99, and get a £4.99 discount after your first press. See terms and conditions.

So it gives you button for free. Sorry not a deal.
Last time it was for 99p and, 4.99 back with first order.

These should be free.

These should be free.
Thats exactly what I said, of course they should be free its gaining exta revenue for amazon but I guess amazon dont want any one buying in bulk, so buy one and get your money back. Its ideal if you want a few to "hack" as there is no outlay as long as you have other stuff to buy off amazon which I did.

Plus, the UK Dash buttons are woefully short on useful brands and products.

Anyone suffering from those regular Play Doh emergencies?!?!

Agreed, and the buttons you do get suffer from usefulness to...
I picked up a couple when they were 99p including the fairy non bio one. There were NO products for that button for 2 weeks and when they added one (yes, just 1) it was powder and we use liquid.

These should be free.
Which they effectively are, seeing as you get your money refunded on first purchase?!
#7
But they should just be "FREE".

It's like a leaflet or a catalogue: Just a free tool used to encourage people to order things.
#8
Obviously, I appreciate the reasons why not. Like leaflets and catalogues, people would take them and bin them......

no, you should receive at least a fiver for taking one of them. Amazon must have such contempt for the UK consumer to have introduced these. I'd pay to get the home phone numbers of the suckers who bought them, just think what you could sell them over the phone.
