Seen this behind the counter today at Gamestation. I asked the lady behind the counter when it started and she wasn't too sure but thought maybe it was for Saturday.

When you buy GOW2 you get the option to then buy the wireless adaptor for £30. This is great for those who preordered because unfortunately it looks like it might be pretty difficult to get the game on release day without a preorder.

Oh and I did ask about RRP of GOW2 in Gamestation and they said they will not know until midnight tonight when it goes live.

Sounds good but can anybody else confirm this?
#2
Also think this sounds good - but how much are they charging for Gears?
#3
Thanks - this is very good if true but only IF they don't charge a silly price for GOW2...
#4
Yeah depends how much they charge for GOW2 otherwise you would be as well buying the wirelss adaptor from game for 43 quid and buying GOW 2 seperate.
#5
I have a gut feeling and i wonder if others agree that the xbox wireless adapter has always been at a silly price so it's only a matter of time before microsoft sell it at this price anyway. This is an educated guess looking at the recent drop in xbox console and hard drive prices.

Anybody else think so?
#6
although the deal may be good stay away from wireless its no good for online gaming unless you like lag and constant drop outs, Its better to buy wall plugs if your a serious gamer much better pings and reliability.

Hope so anyway. It will certainly drop once we have a confirmed date for new consoles coming with wireless built-in. You are def right about it being a silly price though. This should be priced in the £15-£20 range based on similar products...

Are new consoles coming out? If so when and will the hard drives be bigger?

And yeah they are overpriced. Also the official media remote is overpriced, they are just greedy.

:whistling:From my contacts at Gamestation I can confirm the fact that the wireless adptor can be bought for £30 with GOW 2.The standard game is £39.99 and the limited £44.99, but you can have the wireless adaptor with either; stock is limited though, so you will need to be quick !

Well, if that's true then it's much of a deal anyway, as the game will be available through the supermarkets at £29.99, making this adaptor roughly £40 (still ok if you do intend to buy both though)

the 360 wireless adaptor is very good for live. no difference imo

One of these is much better value for money than the xbox wireless adapter.

Ok you have to plug it into the mains but then again you can use it with any device you want to convert from wired to wireless. I have one and it works great on my xbox 360.

About the area of an A6 piece of paper i guess, about an inch think but very light. Plugs into the network socket on the xbox and converts it to wi-fi.

This site is about whether it's a good deal or not and not if M$ have overpriced products. Personally I have my xbox wired to live however I also share this same cable with my mac mini... don't have enough extension leads and free power points to be able to put another router in so I'll definitely be heading to Gamestation at midnight to try get myself a deal..
#16
From the title I thought it was the game and the adapter for £30, now that would have been a deal!
#17
sounds stoopid, i'm wired, everything else is wireless, it just runs behind something, can't even see... cost me £1 lol

Are Gamestation open at midnight tonight?
#22
when I asked the price of the game they said they wouldn't know until midnight so I just assumed they'd be open. I know my local Game Store is so I'll be ducking down there just to check out what they've got on offer to save the drive.

In store only i'm afraid plus I only seen a leaflet style promotion ready for display but it won't go up until the offer is on... Should be tonight but staff suggested it may be Saturday which to me seems stupid seems the game is out tonight... ???

The price drops across the Xbox range of consoles, games and wireless adaptors are probably to do with the 4th gen Xbox due for release in Asia/Pacific in May 09 and Europe Sept/Oct (although based on history will probably be delayed).

Project has a working title of 'Vivera' and is rumoured to use BR discs like the PS3, but have more functionality : - fully integrated wireless (headset, controller and wifi), 250GB HDD with an additional 'bolt on' 500gb to the back, faster processor too and improved graphics!

Apparently MS/Xbox live will be providing both a new browser and lots more content like HD movies etc.

Would be good to see a pic and get more specs if anyone gets them!

The bold pretty much confirms that whole post as a false rumour.

You can't increase things like that on a platform. Specifications have to meet a set standard, otherwise software (games in this case) cannot be optimised to run properly on the hardware.

Your source is probably combining the next XBOX rumours with the next model rumours.

Warm deal from me. You could pick Gears up for £30 at most places, and save £10-£15 which you could then put towards a Wireless adapter elsewhere. So technically you're paying more for the game and less for the WiFi. If that makes sense.

PennyPincher,
Caught me out, should have omitted that bit! Thought it would get the PS3 advocates going a little!

So I presume you not only pirated it, but let your sone play it as well? how old is he?

I have a wireless adapter on a 512 connection, and only have problems if I try to use the net at the same time, a good piece of kit which is a much for me as my xbox is in my room and my router is downstairs

I'd personally say read up on plugging your xbox into your computer/laptop if your on wireless, dead easy and much much cheaper (I got mine running and I'm looking at selling my wireless adapter)

I think those wall plugs only work on newer houses with newer wiring..

Not true
#38
They work with older houses, but really badly.

Just submitted the game deal for this same offer, wanted to buy this in gamestation but they had no limited tins left luckily for me as I had £15 on my game card and saved a total of £40 buying the 2. So I got both for £65

Nope.. there is not a new console coming out...

The official media remote is dirt cheap pre-owned lol...

TBH, microsoft are just restricting you on HDD's because they are greedy *******s, the hdd in a 20gb 360 hdd probably cost about £15 to buy...
