I saw signage up for this yesterday in Cardiff, and it was strangely gone this morning so I asked about it. It starts on Monday, the staff don't know how long for exactly.

So buy a meal deal as normal, keep your receipt and then you can pick up another in the same week for £1.99. They couldn't tell me if you can do it on the same day i.e. take two meal deals to the till and pay separately to get the discount... I guess we'll have to find out when it goes live.

Hopefully we can combine it with the BOGOFs on drinks too!

#2
They didn't do this when I bought one about 20 minutes ago. :-(
#3
thats cause it starts Monday...... ;-)
#4
Of course, I'm a moron, sorry. :)

Are you sure? Not according to my receipt from Glasgow Central Station branch this lunchtime. :?

I have brought two meal deals in July from the Brighton store and the receipt still says "You Have Bought 2 Meal Deals, Buy 3 More To Claim Your 6th Meal Deal Free before 31/07/2009" so it it seems that offer is still on in Brighton. Would be good if both offers are on. I will see on Monday.

Hmmm. Wonder if you'd get each subsequent meal for £1.99? i.e you take Monday's receipt for £2.99 to get the discount on Tuesday, Tuesday's receipt for £1.99 to get the discount on Wednesday etc, or if it would only work if you paid full price...

Could be good though! :D

Ooh let's hope *rubs hands together*

I'm loving their new Egg and Bacon Roll

Its a bit annoying if you have to keep the receipt though. It would be a nicer deal if it was automatic like the current 6th Meal Deal free one.
#11
It may turn out to be an automatic thing linked to your advantage card, but the girl at the till mentioned the receipt to me...so let's see on Monday
#12
Don't quite get how this is going to work, i work in boots and am wondering how this is going togo through on the till, will see if i can find out tomorrow.

This is just a trial to replace the existing '6 for 5' deal so it won't be nationwide.
Details of the offer are stored on the Advantage card so the till will automatically give you every other meal deal for £1.99 in a 1-week period (Mon-Sun)
#14
I'm not keen on Boot's sandwichs, the fillings seem very thinly spread. Much prefer Sainsbury's ones. Good deal if you do like Boot's meals though.

Cost wise, the new deal works out at £2.50 per meal - which is the same as the 'buy 5 get the 6th one free'.

However, it has the advantage of only having to buy 2 in one week to get the saving, rather than being committed to buying 6 in a month.

If you regularly buy 6, 12 (or any muliples of) in a month, you are no worse off and get the discount quicker.

So, in summary, it's an improvement (if it goes nationwide), so thumbs up from me!

on average 6 meals with old deal = 2.91 each
4 meals with new deal = 2.75 each

Although there is something quite nice about getting a receipt with 0.00 at the bottom on every 6th deal.

Definitley replaced the offer in Cardiff Boots. The woman at the till confirmed it when i queried why my reciept didnt have the "oYou hvae bought one meal deal" on it.

Think you are using London prices.
#20
They told me its not about location but the size of the sandwich, some are two and some three.
#21
Boots meal deals can be awesome value when you play the game - if drinks are on BOGOF, then you get 2 as part of your meal deal, if sandwiches are reduced, then your whole meal is less than 2.99 (or 3.49 depending where you live) AND don't forget you can have ANY chocolate or sweet bags less than £1.35 (I think? Can't remember the exact amount but it is in the meal small print if you look)
#22
what stops you showing the same receipt over and over again? so ya pay 2.99 one day and 1.99 for the rest of the week?

i think they will probably take the receipt off you when you redeem it, or if you have bought other things within the same transaction they will make a mark on the receipt and give you it back.

Nope, this is not a receipt based offer, details of the number of meal deals bought in the offer period (Mon-Sun) are stored on the Advantage Card, the till then deducts the appropriate amount off every other meal deal to reduce the price to £1.99, hence you have to be an Ad Card holder to participate in the deal (same as the 6 for 5)

Went to boots in Bristol today, says nothing on my receipt that I can now get another meal in the same week for 1.99. Disappointing...
#29
Went to Boot's in Liverpool at dinner. Bought a meal deal and signed up for the Advantage card but the girl on the till had not heard of this deal, she only knew about the old "6 for 5" one. Is this new deal regional or something?
#30
this deffo isnt live in all boots
however its worth mentioning that the snax element of the deal isnt up to 1.35 as it includes the Cinema size bags of confectionary eg minstrels and maltesers which are priced at 1.89. Best buy for the avid lunch fan off to the cinema at the weekend 2mw.
You can get the bogof on sprites etc so 2 drinks, sarnie and the chocs for 2.99 :whistling:

Tried another Boot's shop in Liverpool yesterday and again they'd not heard of this new offer.

So are you saying you can get a £1.89 bag of chocs on the meal deal instead of the yoghuart or whatever?

Yes, you can get the giant buttons, revels and maltezers from personal experience.

the girlson the counter are often sceptical but it goes through just fine along with th bogof of sprite.

Cheers for that I'll give it a go. Have bought two meal deals from Boot's in the last week or so since Sainbury's stopped doing their normal £3 one. Took advantage of the BOGOF on Lucozade both times.

Until recently I hadn't bought a sandwich in Boot's for a while as I used to find the fillings rather thinly spread but they seem OK now these days - altough the fat content seemed rather high on the 3 pack Poultry butties I got yesterday, I think it was about 15 grammes or something which seems a tad excessive.
