I'm always damaging mine at work so just wanted something cheap-just the job!

Funny.

These are flimsy & will fall apart with the slightest knock.
So you joined HUKD just to post this deal? Interesting!

Cold for me given the spec and the fact that is refurbished with a short warranty.
cold for me, low spec and vista basic. helps if you elaborate more on the description:

So £189 all inclusive for a refurbished fujitsu corporate computer with 12 month warranty, Core 2 Duo CPU, 2GB RAM, a 160GB hard disk drive, XP Pro OR Vista Business. Not a good deal hey! Point me to something better if you find it. I mean the CPU and the Vista Business License would probably cost more than the cost of the computer!

It's not that bad... & I didn't say it was.
Not for me, maybe I am a bit spoilt with deals on here, (and it's not one of those memorable ones), but I suppose if you have a desk to fill, it will do the biz. I am no fan of second hand kit, unless it is cheap (and this isn't very), and if I was buying a new machine of this type, Vista would be the last choice too.

That said. the stuff on the web site is a howl, and too often when something gets posted, the final line ie the cost to get it to the door is conveniently missing out on the delivery cost.

Oh... tenner for delivery too!

Looks a decent deal - shame we missed the svp deal though !!

True but my quidco has tracked already to help ease the pain a little. Anyway if I'd left it any longer I was paying more with the VAT increase.

Anybody still waiting on the Fujitsu deal will likely have to pay more now anyway unless Buyit247 take the hit themselves?

I bought one in late 07 for about 180 iirc (701 4g ssd) - and it is still going fine.

The screen is small, but the speakers are not bad.

You can replace Xandros with eeebuntu or straight ubuntu and it just works (tm).

The processor is not that fast, but will happily play BBC iplayer in full screen / do web browsing.
The keyboard is fine for light note taking.

The HDD is a little small, but it will happily cope with a 16GB SD card (about £17)

The 480 vertical resolution of the screen is a limitation - some of the dialogs in Ubuntu do not quite fit. I suspect the same may be true of XP.

At about 109 this is a bargain.

Just in case you don't know, holding alt in ubuntu allows you to move a window up and down with the cursor.

In regards to it's video playing capabilities if nothing else this is a bargain portable video device.
Bought one a few months ago, and installed cut down xp (nllite). Works well for browsing and iPlayer Youtube etc. But the screen resolution lets it down because most websites are not designed for small screens. The result is that you will be forever scrolling right and left on webpages. Ended up getting the 8.9 model, which is the same size but the extra screen resoltion makes it far better.
Still kept the 701, permanently connected to the TV for watching internet TV, and this works really well. Still a bargain at this price.

The original netbook?
I had one of these, but the 800x600 resolution was too limiting IMO

Now have an 8.9" Acer One which is fine, dabs.com do them for £134:

it's actually 800 x 480, even worse.

Mmmm, you can collect though (obviously free). Not much use unless within 40 mins or so though. I'm going to pay the carriage though. Would cost more in time and petrol to collect. Still can't find it anywhere near as cheap as that, even including the £19 carriage.
It's just creeping up. Maybe the £20 P+P is putting people off.
I think it's an awsome deal, graphics card is pretty good for the price :)
Yes, must admit, think I'll be ordering one at that price. I think Vista's at a decent state now and with 3GB of memory this should have no problems with it.

Noticed the spec sheet link has changed on the buyit247.com site since I first posted too. It's now linking to the Fujitsu page at this address http://uk.ts.fujitsu.com/home/products/notebooks/amilo_pa_3553.html
They've also got the Blu Ray version with a bigger HD for a tad under £450. Apart from the Comet deal about 6 months ago, I haven't seen it anywhere for under £500.

http://www.buyit247.com/amilo-pa3553-amd-zm-80-2-1-3gb-320gb-blu-ray-vista-homep.html

Was going to wait for Windows 7, but this is very tempting.
