So what exactly do these energy saving plugs do?

By the way if you follow the link to the item they also show the Intelliplug and Intellipanel as an alternative. These cut power to all your peripherals when your computer or TV shuts down.

Why cold?

If these are just radio controlled power sockets, then B&Q do a set of 3 that will switch upto 3kw for £15 (or they did a week or three ago). The remote control is smaller and better looking to and can operate up to 16 I think (using a slider switch to select between groups of 4).

The same Bye Bye Standby Energy Saving Starter Kit is £19.99 from Currys. In store I am sure they were £39 (maybe mis priced or wrong price label) but I did collect at store for £19.99.

Try your local Asda, mine were selling the Standy Buster (one remote and plug socket) for £3. Amazon are asking £15 for that. You can operate up to four sockets from one remote but at this price it is cheaper to buy four full sets (four plugs, four remotes) for £12.

Just google Standby Buster for more info...nice piece of kit that now turns all my TV related stuff off at night ;-)

Cheers melted!

Splinters, they sound like a bargain at 3 quid!

Unfortunately, they cost a bit more moolah, at least on asda online. But, I will do what you suggest and check my local asda! Cheers!

Nevertheless, I've voted hot for this deal, cheers scottyb! It seems cheaper than elsewhere and free delivery too. Can't go wrong with that.

From what I can figure this is just a remote controlled mains plug.

So whats wrong with just getting up and switching the mains switch off on your wall socket every night? Thats what I do

I think the Intelliplugs are a better purchase than these because they automatically cut power to the extensions when your main device like computer or TV shuts down.
