Warm, aldi had a 4 pack for £9.99. Dunno if they still sell them now though.

Do like the fact you can have 2 sets on 1 remote though.

Actually gone for a set for my dad. £14.24 with voucher. Thanks

Got a set from Maplins for £7.99 when they were listed here:

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/159996/remote-controlled-power-socket-3-pa/

Although not the same manufacturer they provide the same functionality and are a cracking bit of kit that is well worth having in the house; excellent for saving on your electricity bill!

Does anyone who already has one know if they work via infra-red beam like a tv remote does with a tv, or if they use some sort of radio signal.
The items I would like to use mine on are in hard to reach areas which means infra-red beams would also find it hard to reach.

It only seems to mention it has a 30 metre range.

Are these are RF?

I've been looking for an IR model for ages so I can use it with my Logitech Harmony universal remote but I just can't find one :-(

Yes these are radio. I have a set I bought at Christmas time. Excellent for turning the Christmas Tree lights on/off.

These are pretty cumbersome compared to the Intellipanel / Intelliplug (which is automatic, no remote needed).

Still, good price, but do check out the Intelli stuff, as they do the job much better..

I think, personally from my point of view, the bye bye product is super for convinience over greenness and engery saving. I can convinently attach the plug to devices I would usually not use because they are hard to switch on or get to the plug. Example being, the internal lights for my wardrobe which have the switch very close to the actual plug socket which unfortunately is fixed to the wall under my bed. A nightmare to switch on and off, where as this product will make life a dream! Well not quite, but it will make things easier.

So In summary, this product, would make me most probabily use more energy!

This is a wonderful product for the money.

I have all my AV gear plugged into these. Most used devices are controlled with one click while other devices that are not used all the time, like an amp that I almost only use when watching movies and listening music is controlled with another click.

All my mood-lighting in a different group. which again I only switch on with the movies.

Not only are my devices switched on for only as long as needed they're almost never on standby.

anyone know if these are x10 compatible?

i expect not (at this price), but its worth asking ..

So what would happen if I had to use an appliance over 1000W with this? Say and iron though an adapter attached to this.

Would it just not be able to control it or would it just shut off or something?
#31
I have a Harmony 895 with both RF and IR can I program these to it?

Also, do they cut power to items which are switched ON and NOT in standby? Say like... a lamp? If so, would that mean I could remote switch a standard lamp on and off with these?

Yes you could use it as a remote switch.

Can comment what would happen but they do have a higher wattage version on Maplin site that could link to these.

No you can't use your remote to control these :(

I've got a Harmony too but still have to juggle remotes, guess you can't have everything!

The remote will basically cut power to everything connected to the plug. We use it to control the amp, floor standing lights, TV and mood lighting...

Awesome, many thanks. Shame about the harmony, although odd. It definately can't learn the commands? Nevertheless, great deal. Picked up the last one in my currys. Voted hot!
