If this 'switches off your home' does it mean it'll turn off things like fridges and freezers etc.?

no you can select what device you want to turn off when you set it up

you have to have bye bye plugs in use with the gadgets. I think this switch replaces the remote control/s.

it's a really good idea if you are using byebye already. We have some no name systems but the remote goes down the back of the sofa sometimes

You need to buy extra plug receivers and use them on each appliance you want to turn on and off with this master switch.

For example: http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electronics/4-/5314463/Bye-Bye-Standby-Energy-Saving-Kit/Product.html?ptsl=1&ob=Price&fb=0

tescos sell 3 plug switches and a remote control for around a tenner so far better imho

Asda are currently doing 3 remote-controlled plugs for £5.

How is this any different?

Found the range on Bye bye devices to be average, never 30 metres! Got a set from Aldi which is much better.

Although voted this hot as its a cheap addition if you have this set.

We use the Bye-Bye standby all over the house to great effect, generally I use the remotes (that came with em in other similar cheap deals) however the one big switch (as advertised above) is terrific, the battery has lasted around 2 yrs to date, & is mounted on my 6 yr olds bedroom wall by the lightswitch, she knows to turn off all her electronic crap, xbox, lava lamp (nightlight), tv pvr all in one shot, partly because she can & partly because she understands it's wasted electricity & money..
Also the handy thing for us is to be able to just stick a hand round the door late at night & turn off her bedtime story / music or whatever without crashing round her room & disturbing her..

I'll be buying a few more (thanks OP) one for our bedroom which is similarly cluttered with electronica & another for our front room..
They do pay for themselves fairly quickly when you see how much has dropped off your idlling components electrical wastage when you see the drop on an owl monitor or similar.
Not to mention reducing fire hazard whilst you're out / sleeping.
It doesn't present a problem to my dab alarm clock as that holds settings when the power comes back on at bedtime, nor does it affect our freesat box which seeks when it powers up in the afternoon..

Great bit of kit that with some thought can work very well for you.
After-sales support from bye-bye standby has been superb too!

This remote screws onto the wall, so it won't get lost down the sofa, that's how it's different.

The sort of switch they are on we used to call cripple switches, as they are easy to bash on & off with full hands, just using elbows etc & in the 70's you only used to find this sort of thing in an oap home or similar, but they were so useful we used to stick them on for all our lights (clear acrylic ones with a matching swatch of wallpaper to belend in... classy!
..& they took so much punishment, this style of switch needs so little movement to get a result they are very well thought out regardless of whether they'reon a standby or not.
if your kids take to these they'll be more inclined to turn sockets off, just be prepared for them to do it in an elbow jab kung fu stylee!

I don't think that kind of move would be reserved for just the kids if I was about :P Dubbed sound effects and all :D

This item is excellent. In my lounge the main light switch is behind the door as we reversed the way the door opened and it was a pain to switch the lights on and off. I now have this stuck on the wall by the door and rather than turn the overhead light on it turns on/off all the side lamps so you don't have to go round switching them all off one by one as you leave at night.
