this kinda memory is becoming more and more expensive. I think, the best place to look for this type is ebay.Got there 2x1gb pc3200 for £26
#2
You can luck in on ebay but I couldn't find any there at similar money when I was looking...at least for Amazon its new and comes with a guarantee ..but I do take your point.
I was just going to buy a new computer but upping the memory seems to have given it a new lease of life.

No one has listed a better price yet - so why is this not a good deal?
#4
Good Price.
#5
Sigh. Why couldn't I find this, at this price last year. :-(
#6
I fix & upgrade alot of PC's & this is a wicked price! even beats CEX PRICE & reliability. especially when know I'll be reliable. ordered many from CEX & they ended up not working:x

they do give refund but I hate having to return stuff. Its time consuming. The only time I goto post office is to tax my car.
#7
have some HEAT!!
#8
Heat and rep, very nice price! Great find!
#9
these are extremely hard to find. especially on laptops and very expensive to find also.
#10

#11

#13

Cheers,

Fantastic price! I use this in my G5 tower and have always wanted to upgrade but the prices are ridiculous. You could pick up 3-4GB of newer RAM for the same price as 2x512MB of this stuff.

I wouldn't like to trust the stuff from ebay, yeah it can be cheaper but its more likely to not work or go kapuht in the short term.
#15
I've been watching this spec of RAM on eBay recently. Its not a bad price, although ideally I want to get 2 x 512, as its better to have RAM in pairs?
#16
I paid about £17 for a 2GB sodimm chip a couple of years ago, then about a year later about £22

Now they are selling for about £35+
banned#17
What would be a good price to sell 2 x 512 paired ddr ram, used on this website? If its worth my while ill stick it on sale
#18
1GB 333Mhz for £18?
This would have been a good deal like 3 years ago…

And a good deal now. The price for this type of RAM doesn't go down, if anything it goes up.

Only if the motherboard will run them as 'dual channel' - granted most will.

However, in running dual channel, the performance gain is in the region of 5% maximum which you just will not notice in the real world.

333Mhz ram? 1999 called, they want their ram back. DDR2 should be running a minimum of 800Mhz now :/ why would anyone buy 333Mhz ram is beyond me.

Woah there, here come the million core i999999 400GB RAM PC fanboys! :x

Jeez, for older PC's this is a bargain and not everyone uses their PC to play WoW in their mom's basement and some people, get this guys, just use them for word/internet, I know I can't belive it too!

PC geeks go hand in hand with car snobs.

For the price of building a fairly decent up-to-date DDR2 capable PC that runs smooth as hell... I too can't believe people are still running systems this old.

I couldn't use anything less than a dual core now. And yeah I'm a PC geek, but it's just practical to have something that runs everything I need it to isn't it...
#26
Heh....well I build my current computer in late 2002 and its still going strong especially with the addition of the extra RAM. Much as I would like to splash out on a new computer what would I gain? It does most everything I need almost instantaneously.
Anyway I'm just glad if this has been of use to someone...I've had loads of bargains off HDUK going right back to the very early days so its good to be able to give something back.

most people who buy these now only use their machine for watching movies, listening to music & internet. i have a core2quad but got an old celeron machine given to me. all is good apart from the fact its got 128MB ram. I chucked in a 1GB ram & now its running perfect. dont hav to burn 800w power for wife to use internet or son to do painting.

So its a perfect upgrade for handme down PCs as thats the only thing missing.

Not everyone needs a high spec PC. My sister has passed me her old Dell PC, which has only 256mb RAM. I plan to upgrade the RAM and give it to my 5 yrold son to use. It will be perfectly adequate for his use, and for a minimal outley he'll have reasonable PC.
PC geeks perhaps should stop and think before posting stupid comments. As wth most geeks, they seem to have little in the way of common sense ;-)

i think a lot of geeks have been offended here!

i got given an old motherboard and CPU and all i needed was OLD ram. It was well worth me spending a few quid on getting it working and now i can use it as some sort of server. It also runs Windows 7 fine!

happy days.

My neices PC was sold to her with AMD 64 4000+, vista & only 512MB ram!!! I just had to get her an extra 1GB to stop her going insane. I didn't know HP were of such evilness :w00t:

This is a very fair price, comparible to eBay yet new and should be more reliable.

As someone who has sold things like this (professionally) on eBay before, people are correct, the price of DDR RAM has gone UP in the past few years, at one point 2gb of DDR desktop RAM like this (but USED) would happily sell for £50 on eBay.

Despite I build PCs I still ironically run a socket 478 PC which uses DDR RAM. People that believe they need quad core, 8gb, 2tb HDD, 1gb gfx card PCs etc, to run youtube and msn messenger are very much mistaken LOL.

My Shuttle SB75G2 does the job perfectly and for others too, this RAM would be a good investment.

Yes it costs more than DDR2 but for some people its easier and cheaper to replace 2 sticks of RAM rather than every component in their PC.

Good offer, good price, heat added

If thats the case, your current RAM should be sufficient enough, theres no need to put this monster of a 1GB Ram into your rig.

completely agree

I'm running a homebrew P4-3GHZ, with an asus p4p800-x motherboard, ordered 4 sticks to upgrade from 1GB to 3.5/4GB

I need the RAM to run virtualbox

Can't see why people running twitter, web-browser and chat would need the latest dual core 2, complete waste of money if you ask me

if your using this to upgrade your pc, you should seriously consider buying a new pc.

:? That's right, because a new PC can be had for £17.99, or under £36 if YOU'RE thinking the unthinkable and wanting to give a boost to 2GB

Ok then, where can I buy this new PC for £17.99

Nowhere? Hmm. I'd have to pay £300+ ? Oh right :whistling:
