Seems like a great price, but does it include the vertical pole or is it just the arm?

good point.

all it says is "Easy mounting with 2 clamps" ???

Thiat is just it. I bought this yesterday without looking carefully thinking the pole comes with it but it does not. Now the problem is where to buy a pole that fits exactly in the clamps provided.

Designed to fit on a scaffolding pole as part of a larger scaffolding - never designed (or safe) to be free standing in any way.

I am Balder wheelchair bound (which lifts me up to a normal height) with a broken back (cant lift) I have 5 of these around my workshop 3 are working well but 3 will only run in one direction, they are a great hoist I have one over my centre lathe to change 8" chucks & a 2nd one on the outer arm to lift other items I am working, I have a 3rd one which travels across the workshop & workbench, the others were working OK but I could not be with out them tremendous buy would recommend them to any one a really good buy, but you must have the scaffold pole well anchored top & bottom
