Pretty sure that Tesco's have this size tin on offer from today (as the Christmas stock starts to appear on the shelves!) at 2 for £9.

Should be in store and online as well. They had about 6 different sizes/varieties to choose from.

I thought it wasn't a bad deal, made even better by this post.
#4
Couldn't you get 5 and it'd work out at £3.98 each? Or 10 and it'd be £3.49 each? Doesn't seem that bad a deal to me. Maybe I'm just hungry.

You could but you'd have to eat fast, they're already 11 days past the sell by date :o

 Just realised why they're out of date!

It takes a month to view a page on Halfcost, another month to view the item details, another month to place an item in the basket, another month to......................................................

I didn't think they could sell food past their sell by date?
#8
theres a difference between 'sell by' and 'use by'...although i would have thought that 'best before' is a use by date!

http://www.eatwell.gov.uk/asksam/foodlabels/asksamlabellingrules/
"it's illegal for shops to sell food after its 'use by' date."
#9
oh, just saw this on the same page:

"You will see 'Best before' dates on foods that last longer, such as frozen, dried or tinned foods. Shops are allowed to sell foods after their 'Best before' date (except eggs) and they will probably still be safe to eat."

(i've taken the liberty to highlight the key word for me there!)
#10
Best before refers to the quality, the chocolates might not taste as nice (but probably will). The shops are ok to sell providing they are identified as out of date and reduced accordingly.
#11
I am not going for this offer, but have to say that most people will have boxes of chocolates in their house that are past their best before date and will eat them without realising, so as long as these are eaten soon I dont see that there will be any difference in quality.
#12
what a **** deal....voted freezing cold :-D
#13
Tesco are doing 2 of these for £9 on special offer usual price £9.99 each
#14
Sorry - voted cold.... 8.00 for a tin of O.O.D choccies to be delivered:-(
#15
I'd definitely buy a tin instore at that price regardless of the fact it's out of date, the postage ruins this deal though as you wouldn't want to buy more to make it worthwhile due to the best before date.

I'd definitely buy a tin instore

:-( - i couldn't find a store though - it only appears to be an online purchase
#17
Tut, and here's me thinking its a box of 5 1KG tins of QS :giggle:

5 1KG tins for £11.98 thats gotta be a billy. Wont bother me too much being out of date, I have cast iron guts!
#18
freezing cold here sorry
#19
they are £1.99 now - but ive bought chocolate before and even 1 month out of date are fine - 3 or 4 months is when it can icky.
#20
and as someone noted earlier, £7.99 for 5 tins in a joblot.

use code FF10 to get another 80p off (10%) so thats £7.19 for 5 tins. ordered lol.

Hell YES. Although, I feel robbed just paid £12.94 for 5 tins @ 1.99 :-( DAMIT

Still, what a great deal :w00t:

HOT!

I bought the 5 tins and added a few other items (a designer coat for my nephew for £1.99!)
#23
The argument about buying multiple tins to save on postage falls on it's backside somewhat unless you are going to sell them straight away as they are already out of date so by the time you get through 5 tins they will be really stale.
#24
these chocs date right back to the salmonella health scare..
#25
they only have augusts date on them - 3 weeks, trust me they will be fine. besides were giving one of them to the mother-in-law for her birthday, and that leaves me 2 tins, and the wife 2 tins. they will be gone in a week.

Was going to reply at the time but couldn't think of anything sufficiently witty!! Instead we've hopefully resolved the performance issues in moveing around the Item Lists.

Great, thanks for that :) Appreciate you making an appearance :)

Off to try and place an order (not for the chocs though sorry :p )

In Castleford, Freeport there is a Cadbury's store. These are £6 for the whole tin. They also have other's 1kg tins like Heroes.
#29
Now if you had put £2.99 plus £4.95 delivery in the title it would have saved me a click and a post.
#30
Placed an order with halfcost but didnt go for these - we dont really eat chocolate much so it would take a while to get through a tin by which time they will be nasty!
#31
Think i will give it a miss i have only just got rid of the last lot.

Just received my order, with only one tin of roses!

Phoned up and they refunded the cost but I won't get any more roses, annoying as I only added items to the order to bulk it up. At least I got one tin of out of date chocolates out of it
