Having tried Alpechin Caffeine Shampoo and actually liked the feeling of it, but not being able to justify £7-9 price tag... Was amazing to see Caffeine Shampoo in Poundland.

Yet to give it a try, but happy to try it for a pound!

Be careful what you buy from there, was a tv program on the other week about people using top brands from pound shops and ended up with excema type problems on their head, it's put me off buying from there now

Well if it was on the tv then it must be true.

I also saw a documentary on bbc2 which told me that I'd become gay if I drank diet soda. I mean it was on the telly and there was science and stuff, so it must be true.

And then there was my mate Dave who grew a third nipple because he ate kebabs.

Gullible. You people believe any old shyte if it's from a position of alleged authority.

Caffeine shampoo help with hair loss, it stops hair falling out and makes hair feel so much thicker. Not sure about the one from the pound store though. Rather use alpechin if your suffering with these symptoms. Great reviews on it

How does it manage that with caffeine being a vascoconstrictor?

Sounds like BS to me.

You can find more info on this at http://www.alpecin.de. As with most products that make claims, it isn't guaranteed to work for everyone, but given the sales figures stated in their advertising, it would suggest that it works for a lot of people.

Not exactly what you were asking about but in case you're interested, I remember seeing something about the make-up brand Stila being sold in one of these bargain shops (Stila, for you or anyone else who isn't aware, is a relatively high-end brand) and it turned out the products hadn't been sold by Stila for 8 years.

Actually, just had a quick look, here's a link. I'm sure it's viewable online too:

More gullible than people who think caffeine shampoo makes your hair grow back?

I have bought "Head and Shoulders" from Home and Bargains and it made my head itchy and sore so I stopped using it at that time I thought it was just me and that my head had become more sensetive, Several weeks/months later I saw the Rip of Britain program that did have other people saying the same had happened to them, Home and Bargains had to clear the shelves as trading standards told them to as all the stock was "fake"

Caffeine may not stop hair loss but I've been rubbing coffee granules into my scalp for two years now and have no white hairs :)

even at £1 for this shampoo , wouldn't it be cheaper to just chuck a can of coke over your head?

It's the German's new master plan, to make them even richer and to make us all even balder and look stupidly gullible! I think that's why they called them the Hairyan Race?oO

It's a secret known by only thousands of German men, apparently.
In fact it's so secret the Advertising standards authority won't allow them to make any hair loss claims about the product!

Just putting it out there, been using Alpecin for a year now and it does feel like my hair has grown back noticeably; lot of new baby hairs that are still growing where there used to be no hair; hair growth might be due to a number of factors though; instructions on bottle suggest rubbing it into scalp and massaging it, though with or without this product that promotes good blood flow and hair growth IMO. Also like to add that i normally buy 3 for 2 when on offer on Boots and it has lasted me nearly 6mths. You're not advised to use it everyday, too much caffeine is bad for ypur hair, i use it 2/4 times a week to stimulate hair growth, alternating between different products from that brand. What worked for me was to wash and rinse hair with no product on the other days so your natural oils can do its work, hair grows thicker. If you use hair products alot like wax, gel etc you need shampoo. Not much hair so dont need to.

As someone who's hair was thinning out very quickly after working out in the gym lots, I thought i'd give Alpecin a shot.
I can say hand on heart that any hair loss that I had has been almost fully restored and I am totally delighted with the results.

Caffeine shampoo is brilliant, the only down side is having to shave the palms of my hands every day.
If you notice on the Alpecin adverts they don't mention what the benefit of using caffeine shampoo is and the simple reason is the advertising standards authority would probably ban the ad as there is no scientific evidence to support the claim that it reduces hair loss.

Looks like a job well done on you then, do your own research.

I have just bought some of the branded shampoo from boots, i wouldn trust the poundshop with any kind of body washes/shampoos etc from the tv i saw.

People who are slating others using the products, my hair is thinning rapidly and i cannot just shave my head like men do try and appreciate what people go through with these symptons before making silly remarks.

I just pour coffee on my head every morning, sure it burns but cheaper than buying those caffeine shampoo

I used alpecin for about a year, 2 or 3 times a week. Doesn't state that it makes hair grow back, but is supposed to help you from losing the hair you have. My experience was good, although mainly it made my hair grow quicker. I also used it on my beard with the same results :) Expensive, but I do plan on getting alpecin again, I'm unsure about the poundshop one, but maybe worth a try :)

Hello both, im the OP.

But just as a basis of comparison - what sort of sensation does Alpecin give you?

Ive used some really "out there" shampoos in my time, some are really tingly and some make my scalp seem really soft (and not so senstive etc).

As im still yet to try my purchase yet, id be interested to know what to expect - so I could offer my honest findings back on this thread.

Not sure I'd try it lol
