Beat the machine this Christmas by buying John Cage's 4'33"

If you're looking for the next banging tune I’m afraid this is not the one for you, but if you fancy a welcome break from the dross that will be aired on mainstream radio this Christmas (I'm looking at you Matt Cardle!), then this is your salvation! It's also for a good cause :)

Cheapest price is on Amazon @ 49p

I know people will say this isn't really a 'deal', so feel free to vote how you see fit, I just wanted to do my bit for raising awareness of this campaign.

Thank you!

There are 12 days left til Christmas, surely people should wait for the last few days if they want it to be the Christmas number 1? Not that I care, I don't watch TV so it doesn't affect me.

With Christmas being on a saturday, the last chart countdown before christmas will be this Sunday.

Meaning if you want a song at number one it will need to be bought this week.

The sales count for Xmas number 1 from today. Not sure what the cutoff is, probably the end of this week.

I guess that shows how much attention I give the charts!

jesus it might have worked last year, but that was a one off.

simon cowell wont allow it to ever happen again. its such a shame because it used to really mean something to be xmas no 1. now it can be forecast so much its insane.

as for this matt candle guy, never heard of him as i totally avoided all of x factor this year, and i usually watch the mentals in the auditions.

modern music is a waste of time, its dead in the water. and it will only get worse.

Don't listen to stations that play mainstream dross ....
#20
Matt Candle lol, I generally don't listen to the stations that play 'mainstream dross', but you can't help but overhear here it wherever you go! At least if this gets made Christmas number one, they can overplay it all they want and it will never get annoying ;)

Hmm, 3 separate campaigns to stop X-Factor getting Xmas number 1, that's gonna work, bloody morons

How is this a deal??
#27
Would rather give the money to charity straight I think...as much as I can't stand x factor I think I'd rather have that at number 1 than this pretentious rubbish, at least its a song even if its a pretty poor song!
Plus, Cage Against The Machine? Really? What genius thought of that witty little name. The only christmas song that will be played in my house will be the Pogues, couldn't care less about the chart.

Still, looking at it from the deal point of view, 50p aint bad. But if its all for charity, surely a higher price would be better? :P
#28
After all the fuss last year doesn't the download have to cost a minimum amount for it to even count towards the Xmas number one?
#29
Matt is not a manufactured pop artist, but a seasoned musician (not in the level of 10000 hour dedicated practiced personality)

Would have preffered rebeccas tbh.
#33
Have to say Matt or Rebecca getting number one would be deserved, they both seem like genuine people unlike a lot of the mass produced tosh, if one direction won for example.

I hate X-Factor but those two had good voices, its a shame its now cool to diss these guys when it would seem most muppets on here haven't even heard them sing, well done chaps.
Blame cowell and co not these two
#34
How festive, a poor karaoke version of a song about a violent relationship! I wonder why they changed the title from "Many of Horror" ?

All together now:

"I'll take a bruise I know your worth it
When you hit me hit me hard"

....and they say romance is dead.

If it was a good single for charity ? Maybe .. but merely to stop X Factor getting no.1, wouldn't say i cared enough.
#36
Oh, it was my understanding that everyone had heard...
#37
This is modern marketing. It's just how it is..
Where before it was 'record company' campaigns, through radio, tv ads etc - Now everyone can have a go through social media (including record companies).

Let's make ' >Insert song here<' Number 1.

Whilst in reality it makes no difference to anyone (the wrong side of the cash register) who becomes Number 1.
It does stimulate open debate and is quite interesting to see how passionate people can get about
art/nonart
both 'serious' and trivial' music listeners alike.
#38
uggggh pretentious ****
#39
What an idiot you are, Matt Cardle is a musician first, not long ago he was playing music in pubs to subsidise his painting and decorating work- he's hardly your main xfactor fodder

No harm to Matt Cardle, but he'll be eating kangaroo Dick in Australia this time next year.

The winner as usual was Simon Cowell
