I was going to tag this on to rkrk's mega post about the Argos clearance, but I felt this warranted its own deal. Basically, I went to the deal for Xbox 360 games, and noticed Burnout Paradise for £14.99. Then saw that Call of duty 4 was linked to it via a speciall offer, so added that aswell. Turns out the old '2 for £45' deal still sort-of works on the website, so while Burnout Paradise comes up as £14.99, COD 4 comes up as £15.61!!

I've just reserved it at my local Argos and will be picking it up later, I'll update the post if everything works ok...

Edit: title changed due to recommendation

The title and price is a little misleading as it's only £15.61 if you also buy burnout for £14.99. I'd buy COD 4 on its own for £15.61 but I don't want to pay that for Burnout.

Good deal if you want both games though, maybe you should edit title and price to say "Call Of Duty 4 and Burnout Ultimate Box for only £30.60"

Maybe at the time you pick the games in-store you might get away with telling them that you don't want Burnout and still get COD4 at that price.

I guess if you really want COD4 at this price is worth a shot

This is a cracking deal as cex will buy burnout paradise ultimate box for £14 cash, So cod 4 will cost £16.60 total. Bargain :)

Noted and altered, I wasn't sure how to word it when I originally posted, so thanks for the suggestion.

Its even better for me as I was going to buy Burnout Paradise for £15 anyway!:-D

You should also put that it's the ultimate box version of Burnout Paradise as that makes this deal go from great to excellent.
#7
Anyone else got any other combinations? :)
#8
The other games the same price as COD4 aren't really worth the price, even when the discount kicks in, so this is the best value combo unless you want to pay over the odds for something like Fracture.

Mine's reserved, off to try and get it later, hopefully when it stops raining!

Added heat.

Sounds good, but I don't think I can be bothered with all of the agro lol.

I didn't even notice it was the ultimate box version! :-D

I did see that the copy of Call of Duty 4 isn't the game of the year edition, so does that balance things out?

It might be GOTY when you go get it.

My COD2 from there had the regular picture on the site but was GOTY when I bought it.

This sounds great if it works.

This was mentioned on rkrk's post at 6.30am today by myself - didn't want to clutter up the board with various argos posts so thought it was better to leave it there especially with so many questions being asked on items availability.

Tried this and at first they had the games on their screen instore for £45. I pointed out to them that if they look on the website it'll be £30.60 in the basket.

After about 15 minutes of waiting for web pages to load and me explaining what price I think it should be regardless of any 2 for £45 deal, they made a manual adjustment on the till and got it to £30.69, which I accepted.

So you may have to fight for the price that you've reserved at and might need to rely on helpful or weak-willed staff!

EDIT: Also, COD4 was the GOTY edition, so 2 spec editions with free DLC for just over £30!

the exact same thing happened to me, the games initially came up for £45 but were adjusted down to £30.60 but it took about 10 mins of waiting.

Was your call of duty 4 the game of the year edition too?

Awwww. You got it for 9p cheaper than me then! :x

Lord knows why they came up with £30.69, but I was just happy to not be paying £45!

Lucky you! I just get quoted that you can't reserve a price and you have to pay the instore price on the day whenever I query a price!

I reserved both at my local store, but only COD4 was immediately available. It said that COD4 had to be collected by the end of the 18th, Burnout would be available 22-24th.

Went down there and collected COD4 for £15.61 without any problems at all :) Don't think I will bother with Burnout now...

Yeah that technically is true. Same goes for any company. The price you see is the price on that day. If the prices were to change tomorrow, you'd have to pay the new prices

Thats the same with me, except I wanted Mass Effect (already got Burnout) and it wasn't in stock. I can collect COD4 tomorrow and Mass Effect next week. But I'll not be getting Mass Effect now as I know I can get cheaper from Play.com!!

They are very strict on prices.
Tried this before and did not get any luck, but fair play if you can get it for this price
#24
Just to note this works with PS3 version as well, add COD4 and find a game that is out of stock at a selected branch and then you can buy the COD4 for £15.61 no problem.
#25
Just reserved this :)
#26
Tried it today, came up as £45, called duty manager over to check, went away and five minutes later the games were mine for £30.60.

COD4 was the normal edition unfortunatly.

Could you try a different store? Like I said, find staff that are friendly and persuade them, or weak-willed and be insistent.
#28
Just managed to get back to a PC, I picked mine up with no problem. I initially used the kiosk which rejected the reservation, but presenting it at the checkout came up with £30.60 straightaway so I got them as described!

Although I got the standard COD, not the GOTY version...

(Rep to stef240377 for originally spotting it, didn't mean to step on your toes!)

I got the same message when I tried to reserve. Will go down tomorrow to see if I can get COD4 for £15.61, hope they've not cottoned on by then!

I think this should be in Entertainment section as it is not really Computer related.

Good glitch/deal nonetheless.

reserved it for two different places near my town. they sent me two reservation emails. I am going to print out COD4 reservation number. this means I will only pay 15.61 for just COD4 and don't even need to pay for burnout paradise, which I don't really want it.
#32
If someone does manage to pick up just COD4 for £15.61 could they post here please? Would be good to know if it'll work before making the trip into town. Thanks!
#33
Also got one reserved for pick up tomorrow - will let you know.
#34
Reserved online, COD 4 in stock, burnout pick up on monday, had two reservation numbers. Went down with print out of resrvations, was asked full price for COD, showed printout and said that it was a deal and should be 14.99, was told need to pay full for COD now and will get burnout for 61pence. So am gonna pick up burnout on monday and take to CEX to get 14 quid back. COD was not GOTY.
#35
reserved mine lets see what happens! Thanks to op!

Worked for me using their instore console things. Just entered the res number and it came up at the £15.61 price, though others have said it didn't work for them? Store I used was Kingston-Upon-Thames.
