I was in the Edinburgh Princes Street branch of Game yesterday and they were advertising Modern Warfare 2 for half price when you trade in your copy of Call of Duty 4 (or various other games) on PS3 or Xbox 360. The price isn't confirmed yet, but their website has it advertised at £44.99, so if the store price is the same you can bag it for £22.49.

The deal is available when trading any of the following:

Games are:

Xbox 360 & PS3
Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare
Brutal Legend
Fifa 10
WWE Smackdown VS RAW 2010
The Beatles Rockband
Borderlands
Tekken 6
Need for Speed Shift
Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising
Singstar Take That

PS3 only
Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2
Uncharted 2 Among Thieves

Xbox 360 only
GTA Episodes from Liberty Ciry
Forza 3

Thanks to Bora Horza for the full list.

Picked up this leaflet the other day when I was in Game @ Braehead, Glasgow. It has the full list of games you can trade in for both PS3 and Xbox 360 in order to get MW2 at half price.

I saw this but you had to trade TWO games COD4 and if i remember correctly HALO 3 was another there were 4 games you could trade to get the £4.99 price.

Usual con from a high street retailer.

Why trade in a game that they will make money on?

Trading in games should be illegal IMO as the developers do not make any more money just the greedy overpriced stores.

Very cold from me

At least people get a few quid back on a game they bought.

I reckon this will be sub £30 in most supermarkets on release day anyway
#14
I cant see why youve voted this cold on the grounds that you dont agree with pre owned goods.

Im wondering wether or not i can get more than £22.49 for COD4 on ebay or something, or if i can get takethat singstar cheap somewhere
#15
ah if thats the case then i may have read it wrong, i only got to read it quick as the mrs was dragging me past but will be going there tomorrow to get batman on a price match so will check it out i thought it was too good to be true tbh but noticed it also said badlands can be traded which isn't out yet. if i'm wrong sorry for getting any hopes up ooops
#16
so they value a used copy of COD4 at around £20?

thats pretty good imo.

whos gonna play COD4 once modern warfare 2 is released anyway..........especially for ps3 users like me becuase theres no trophies to get for COD4 so no point keeping it.

unless the supermarkets sell it for a crazy price like they did with FIFA, i might actually go for this deal.
#17
I suspect COD MW2 will be about £28 in ASDA etc.
Ill prob flog WAW for £15 meaning a bright shiny new copy of MW2 for £13ish.

Ill keep COD4 as its tried and tested (albeit with **** poor extra maps) but a good community nd all my mates have it.
#18
Lovely jubley.
#19
anyone know if you will be able to trade in a ps3 version of cod 4 and get a 360 version of mw2, or has it got to be the same format?
#20
The reason the promotion has COD4 which is old is because it has kept its value and trade value quite high. We rarely have copies second hand in Hanley and its quite hard to buy it new.

GTA:The Episodes is £22 preorder at Argos. It's a small saving if you do it that way, but surely GTA will be cheaper than that by the time of MW2's launch (which is a good few weeks after GTA launches!).
#22
remember the rrp is £54.99 so that will be GAMES instore price therefore £54.99 / 2 = £27.50

And give up Nazi Zombies? Not in a million years:thumbsup:
#29
cant see this lasting long because cod4 will be worth about £10 soon as mw2 hits and nobody will want cod 4
#30
They may not sell it at RRP but they could say this offer gives you 50% off the RRP- not their sale price!!

Can I ask where abouts does it say only off RRP.

It is not on the image uploaded earlier on in the post.

This is an interesting deal as COD4 will drop in price considerably after MW2 comes out. So you could buy MW2 play it and around Christmas rebuy COD4 for around £10-£15 in a sale.

There are many times COD3 has been on sale for £10 since WaW was released.

The hotness of this deal just all depends how much Asda, Tescos or Morrisons will be selling this for, as it does seem like the type of game that would have a price war.

Still voted hot though.
#32
I think supermarkets will be selling this sub £30 like they have been with the big releases recently and WaW was £25 last year.

I don't think this is a good deal without knowing how much game will be charging IN STORE, which will be dearer than an online.

Not voted BTW as I may be wrong.

I may be wrong.

I think tesco & asda may do £34.99 but really can't see them being as cheap as they were with COD5. Fingers crossed though eh:thumbsup:
#34
WWE SmackDown! vs RAW 2010 isn't even out yet (and the cheapest price seems to be about the £35 mark), so I wouldn't see it as a good deal if someone were to trade that in.

Not voting either way though since I don't know the values of the other games.
#35
i would say this will be sub £30 in supermarkets but not 25 maybe 28

Last year WaW was on sale for £27.99 at Asda. It had an RRP of £49.99

MW2 has an RRP of £54.99 therefore doing the mathematical absolute cheapest possible deal therefore would be £32.99 for this game.

But with the recession it may be slighly unlikely, £35 would be a good price.
#37
well morrisons was selling batman for £32.99 - i dont see the supermarkets doing this game for any less, not on release or soon after anyway...
#38
COD4 is arguably the best multiplayer game on PS3 if you like the genre. Why on earth would you trade it in. I am sure plenty of people will be playing both COD4 and the new COD just to keep their gaming varied. Cold deal. No offence. :)

Curious, so does this mean those that like WaW, still often play on COD3 too?
#40
The servers for cod4 and cod waw are not closing down anytime soon from the looks of things. These are still in the upper tier of most played games online and offline. WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU TRADE THEM IN?

Just work a couple of extra hours and pay full price if it comes to that. Dont bend over to these people and let them butterfinger you out of your hard earned money.
