I had one of these but was really dissapointed, it records pretty good but the battery only lasts about 25-30 mins..... You can get just under 2 hours recording but I think the battery should atleast cover the 2 hours too......

I have this and have never had any battery issues. It seems to last forever for me.

which magazine best buy

I would note I think the 3rd Gen is either out or around the corner which has stabilization and focus and puts this to shame. Probably why they're trying to shift this.
#6
i like the flips but one major flaw, the mic isnt great and theres no jack socket to put in an external mic. good deal though.
#7
hot as it comes, superb camcorder, unbelievable price. was £99 yesterday at amazon and i nearly bought, so thank you op.

Got one of these for a similar price before Christmas, used it loads and not had issues with battery, pleased with it, even in low light It's not too bad

Good price. Pretty sure they have made an error in the description with 720i because the Flip website lists this as progressive.

Compared to the Gen 3 and the Kodak Playsport then this is now priced at about what it's worth. Build quality isn't brilliant, battery life the same. The image stabilisation is a must in my opinion for these pocket camcorders.

The missus has just ditched one of these for the kodak and the difference is quite significant (Kodak is waterproof and uses SD cards too).
Have a look at the alternatives if you're in the market for one of these, you might consider spending a few extra quid worthwhile.

ive got one, its fab, the quality is brill to & really easy to use! hot !

Cheapest available - HOT!!

This won't play on ps3

I've got the 4gb version that was on offer at Currys for about £40 last year - that was a bargain then!
I have used mine all over the place in daylight and inside shipyard sheds and the results are always impressive. No issues with battery life. Only niggle I've had is that I find I should use the supplied software for downloading and editing to keep functionality.
I would recommend the Flip to anyone needing to travel light and take good quality video at short notice. Voted hot from me.

I got 2nd last 1, when they went from 42 to 2 I just had to have one!:3

That's mine shipped. I'm hoping I can use this as more of a stills camera as it's getting rare now for cameras to charge off USB without a lot of mucking about. DOesn't seem to have a still button so I'll need to rip the image but as it's 720p it should be fine for most things.

D'oh, just checked mine and it's the same! :|

Tried on several machines but just the same.

Back it'll have to go.
#24
what a load of rhubarb - mines the same too! (doesn't power up or charge)

will send back tomorrow, could have done without the hassle really and would have hoped that they had bothered to check them before dispatch considering their type of business!
#25
Could be worse, might have bought 40 of them oO

Thanks to masai for checking and posting, I'd have just let it sit for a week before checking.

Argos item number http://reviews.argos.co.uk/1493-en_gb/5633568/reviews.htm

I've contacted them through the Resolution Centre (as recommended to do so by Argos eBay) to ask for a return's number. Hopefully it'll be stress free and errr... free.

Coincidence? Thats pretty messed up, wonder how many of us have got dodgy ones! I called them up on the 0845 number printed on the invoice, they are sending DHL to pick it up tomorrow.

Pretty poor packaging too, no bubble wrap or anything, my box looked a bit beaten up.

Make sure you get a full receipt. The more paper trail the better because this is an eBay item. Nothing to do with Argos (although legally I know it is). You need to be able to show you returned it.

I thought I had the same issue...left it plugged into my USB port for a while and eventually red charge light came on. Took at least half an hour. Still needed to leave it even longer to be able to turn it on.

Whilst this was happening, I downloaded the software and updated it etc etc.

Think the pre-powered battery must have died a little whilst they were on the shelf?

Maybe worth trying before you give up on yours totally.

Ah, so it does! X)

Thanks, now on charge. The light is in that mesh bit next to the lens.

What would we do without all these great comments! :)

I feel really dumb now! Its been collected now so didn't get a chance to check it again! DOH! I left it plugged in for a minute or 2 and assumed that it was dead as no sign of any life and no windows noises like when you plug in a USB key or something.

Shame I really wanted a camera like that.

Worth mentioning too, both sides of the lens light up when fully charged and there's a 'beep' sound (sounds a bit like an err... beep I suppose) when fully charged and then Windows found it and installed it. 60mins charge.

Hopefully all is well with it.

Yeah, bit of bad luck. Had it not been for stay8uk I'd of sent mine back. It was completely dead. Very odd. These were still on sale November 2010 so maybe they just go flat after a period. The user guide could be a bit better I reckon.

They were brand new sealed.
