So if it's not Cheddar, what is it? A big lump of processed ****?
#6
Cheddar can only be called chedder if it has a certian fat content(eu rules) this is low fat chedder so they get around it by calling it I cant believe!!

102 year away. A lot could happen to the regulations in that time.

The more expensive, the better. Can't beat Scottish Galloway Cheese.
#13
This is £2 in my local Asda.
#14
I saw this yesterday on the end of isle and it was £2 in South Wales too! Since there as 'real' cheese on the same stand for £2, I bought that instead!
#15
I managed to get 2 for 70pence at Waitrose when they reduced the price , its actualy quite nice cheese.
#16
if it's not cheddar, what is it?

I like the cathedral stuff, but only buy them when they're on offer

care to look at the "ingredients" and share it here?

Edit:

don't worry:

"'I Can't Believe It's Not Cheddar' will carry the same visual identity as the existing 'I Can't Believe It's Not Butter' spreads range. It will have 30% less fat compared to standard cheddar, is 100% natural and uses a special grade of cheddar from Milk Link's Taw Valley Creamery in Devon, the firm said."

I can't believe its not butter - I CAN, it tastes nothing like butter. FACT. It might look like butter

Wonder if this actually taste anything like cheddar?
#21
WTF? Is this for 4 year olds? Why do the hoi polloi buy this fake crap in colourful plastic wrappers?
#22
i'm a bit scared to try this.... did see it in my asda for £1 and cheese is mega pricey atm. Hot price anyway and worth trying for £1

Prefer the Orkney stuff myself but I know where you're coming from. :)

Oh .... and LOL!!!

http://www.thegrocer.co.uk/articles.aspx?page=articles&ID=211239

Quote from that page from the manufacturers of this stuff:

"We feel Cathedral City is targeted at the more well-heeled shopper and there are an awful lot of people who aren't that well heeled."

.... so does that mean this is officially cheese for plebs or something?!?!?? X)

Exactly. I cant believe they think anyone would think it tastes like butter.
#27
I actually BELIEVE that it IS butter and that this IS cheddar. But then again he wasn't the Messiah, he was a very naughty boy, though I still BELIEVE he WAS the Messiah (but not really).

Are there any I can't believe it's not toast plans around?

I can see this thread is taking a churn for the worse. I'm afraid Richard Dawkins was absolutely right, dairy-based belief (or disbelief) always turns sour in the end. I recommend getting yourselves a copy of "The Cheese Delusion".
#30
This stuff tastes like plastic - it's as bad as those huge blocks of mild or (supposedly) mature cheap chedder that all the supermarkets sell..absolutely disgusting.

Avoid - not worth buying at any price, unless you want some smelly house bricks.

So its just low fat cheese?
#32
Bet it tastes good melted. Just as Stevie G would like it...
#33
2 pound in mine too :/
#34
£2:00 alos in Swansea Asda
#35
£2 for 350g in Asda -Colindale
#36
Obviously not many people on here actually tasted it but would rather sit and act like pretend cheese snobs , boring , go away , in fact go find 400g of your super duper cheese for £2 if not dont come back.

Not bad on toast , doesnt taste any better or worse than the majority of cheap cheeses in all the supermarkets, stashed in the fridge for cheese on toast or something were i dont want to use a slab of more expensive cheese.
