Posting as this is not usually subject to this much discounting (though it has been lower for short periods - see below). I took the opportunity to purchase another 2 devices. I have found this to be the best device to monitor movement with auto-backups to the cloud (High Def) and easy setup. (and I have tried many, many devices!)

NB This is the newer model with Bluetooth

Additional plans are available for more days of cloud storage (single plan covers multiple devices)

Looks good to me and tempted as the Foscam setup I have is not very reliable.

I got one for £100 when launched. It's has a great wide angle lens which give a huge wide almost 180 degree view. Picture quality including night vision is superb!

Downside
You have to pay yearly or monthly subscription to keep the data in the cloud

Not sure about the newer model but mine did not have wifi. Only Ethernet.

In conclusion mine now sits by the door egg no subscription

Is there no way to record locally?

I have one. bought it for £109 from amazon. It has wifi and ethernet connectivity. You get free 12 hour history recorded in cloud. You can extend using paid service. Also you can download videos to avoid deletion. I am happy with it.

I think they learned a lot from the initial launch devices and lack of basic subscription (it is now included at no extra charge and the device has been re-engineered).

You should sell yours on EBAY if you are not using it as they command a good price.

Is there no way to record locally?

Have to say I didn't want this as I wanted the security of off premise storage of any surveillance footage.

(Local store cameras can be had for a lot less mind)

That's understandable, but if you are away for a week or so and something were to happen would this save the footage in the cloud?
