Super-awesome lens, the best standard zoom on any system (in my opinion).

Damn, skint after Christmas, but at this price, I'm tempted

Finally a negative price that I can afford, thanks op!

With the current £160 cashback you can get the 24-70 F4 L IS ISM for the same price, difficult decision but I think the slightly sharper, slightly lighter 24-70 with the macro mode would swing it for me.

Never used a 24-70 mk2 then have you :p

The 24-105mm F4L lens is always the first one to get packed when I go away anywhere.

I didn't know that the 24-70 F4L existed and the size/weight does look interesting, I will consider selling my 24-70 F2.8L .... and get one.

But you have already witnessed the greatness of the 2.8 and its Bokeh... You need the 24-70 F2.8L mk2... :D
You can thank me later...

Different lens but for me the 100mm 2.8is macro is king. It's fixed but incredible.

Not a lens, but to me the Breville VST026 is king of toasted sandwich makers.

( I also have a 50mm 1.2L, 70-200 F2.8L IS, 300 F4L IS as well as the 24-105 F4L)

The 24-70 isn't that great on a full frame camera, the 70mm is too limiting to make it a good all round lens.

I also have a plethora of lenses :D - I have to disagree though, my go to lens on the 5d Mk3 is the 24-70 and makes for an awesome combo....

No. But then they cost the thick end of £2k so it's not really a fair comparison.

This is just a very good kit lens.

But you weren't comparing like for like???
You just stated "Super-awesome lens, the best standard zoom on any system (in my opinion)."
I just disagreed with that statement... :p
To be serious though, I have owned the 24-105 twice now, I tried to like it but just couldn't.... I also own, since new (2006), a 24-70 f2.8L and I can't bear to part with it, even after buying the mk2 version (which is stunning).

I thought I spent a fortune on cameras but I've never had the pleasure of using the 24-70... I'm sure it's even more super-awesome, but I still love the 24-105... especially at this reasonable(ish) price.
