What nobbers have voted this cold, Its £50 cashback at whatever price you pay. I suppose they know where you can get £100 cashback, please tell the rest of us

I've started a thread yesterday about the whole Canon promotion. It isn't just limited to the 400D.

If its being voted cold it is probably because the offer hasn't officially been announced by Canon UK. Retailers are getting POS material in, but no announcement has officially been made.

And also, Warehouse Express and Wilkinson Cameras sell the 400D for £390.. making the rebate even better. :)

There has been a thread about the canon cashback for a while now.. also, Warehouse Express doesnt sell it for 390, but 430, making only slightly cheaper than the high street retailers (450), and I know who I prefare to buy from with the difference so small - unknown retailer with bad feedback or a high street retailer that I can walk into should there be any problems. :)

I think you're getting mixed up on a few issues.

1) The price I quoted of £390 is body only. £430 is the price of the body and kit lens.

2) Warehouse Express isn't an unknown retailer. You only need to open any photographic magazine in the UK and see 6 pages plus of their adverts. They've been in the business for ages and do very well with customer service. If you trust Jessops, then that is fine, but I honestly wouldn't go their for advice or expect to find a deal. You can easily save money on almost anything you can get from there. I say almost as they were the cheapest to buy the Canon 40D.., until Devon Cameras and 7DayShop beat their price by £20+.

Like I've mentioned in the other thread, check >>> Camera Price Buster <<< for the best deals in the UK. I'm not affiliated with the site, but they do a very good deal on keeping track of the best prices in the UK.

Canon EOS 400D Kit with 18-55mm Lens - £413.99 here: so £363.99 after £50 rebate:
http://www.onestop-digital.com/catalog/product_info.php?language=en¤cy=GBP&products_id=331

Can anyone find cheaper?
#7
Isn't onestop-digital based in Hong Kong? I might be getting mixed up with some ebay shop of a similar name.

Otherwise.. you might have a good deal there schizoboy :)
#8
OneStopDigital is in Hong Kong and you will NOT be able to claim the Canon Rebate.

I would advise you purchase the camera from UK to be able to claim the rebate and for warranty purposes.

Buy accessories ie Lens, Hoods, filter etc, i would suggest HK based companies as some guaranty no customs/duty to the UK.

I'd say you did well. it's listed at £446 on currys web site.
No reason why you shouldn't get the rebate.
use this form from jessops to submit your claim if you don't have one.

I'm expecting this to hit £350ish instore price or less in the xmas sales, if thats not too hopeful.

So £300 after rebate, then save for nice lens in 2008, possibly :)

I'll sell my Nikon D40 if they come down that low, and buy one of these!

I doubt it as retailers will keep the price steady while the rebates are on. I think the price will drop to around £350 body only when promotion finishes.

Thanks for the heads up on this i'm now very tempted to jump on DSLR, i've been wanting one for years but the prices have been too high for me to justify. The 400D looks like an amazing camera.. thanks again, heat given

The canon website only refers the £50 cashback on the body - will it work on the kit??? Fantastic thread
#16
I got my 400D KIT from Jessops yesterday.. Go through quidco to get a further £20 off.

You should get the cashback on the kit version aswell, Jessops certainly list the cashback under both body and kit versions.

For Jessops, Can you do collect at store and still get quidco?

I've just ordered one and the print out says "Goods must be paid for on collection" but then how does quidco track it?

You'll have to buy on line with delivery to get quidco through jessops

I dont know if you can buy online and have it sent to the store for collection.. Dont see why not, but perhaps check the small print (if there is any) on quidco.

To Confirm, you 'can' do collect at store and quidco. mine just tracked after i cancelled the order. :x  :-( :?

I stand corrected then. Quidco says 3% for genuine tracked transactions completed wholly online.
I thought since you paid instore, and not online, then it wouldn't count.

Still, you only have to re-order, job done.

A tip with jessops, you get £20 off when you spend between £300 and £599.99 using code SALE20
This does not include digital SLR's, however, add an accessory valued at £20 or more, and you get the £20
discounted. This worked for me when I bought my Nikon in August.
Just tried this and it ain't working. I suspect it's a site problem though, because i added items valued over£300 that are included
in the voucher and they don't work either. Just get "voucher is no longer active" I think they will fix it soon enough.

Also, beware, the jessops vouchers "quidcoten" and "quidcofive" aren't valid on digital SLR's either.
