The lens 18-135mm (7.5x optical zoom) is much better than the standard 18-55mm (3x optical zoom), definitely worth the extra £35 for them as the lens individually cost around £100 (18-55mm) and £300 (18-135mm)

Currently says delivery in 1-3months but Amazon usually get them sooner. got mine 1 week after placing order when showed the same status. Paid £850 2 months ago.

Usually dispatched within 1 to 3 months WTF

This seems to be the usual thing. They put it at a price they hope to be able to get it for and then they cancel your order when they cannot get hold of it.

i've not experienced this with Amazon before. This is not a misprice, so it is different and not like what you are supposing

And with new kit being released imminently, wouldn't touch it at all.

To me this is very hot and I ordered one although I don't think Amazon will supply at this cost I've had the same issue as mentioned above.

What is this new kit being talked off please?

What is this new kit being talked off please?

EOS60D @ RRP £1,099 due out in October.

Not really on a par (price wise) to a current £600 550D. Of course the 60D price will come down but that heardly helps you if you need a camera today.

Yes, 'sometimes' people forget the item in the deal itself. otherwise u can keep waiting and waiting and never buy one. Or you can start comparing with the other dozens of nikon and sony SLRs out there.
The 550d was released around March 2010. the 18-135mm is great, good feel, better material than the 18-55mm. you can google for reviews.

voted hot as this deal is nearly £200 cheaper than the majority of sellers who have this package at around the £850 mark, great camera to boot

is this not the same?http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0037KM0F8/ref=asc_df_B0037KM0F8805845?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&tag=****&linkCode=asn&creative=22206&creativeASIN=B0037KM0F8 but cheaper?

Different lens
#16
What's this lens like? Is it a really basic one like the 18-55 or is it reasonable?
#17
Sorry to state the obvious, but the 60D is a replacement for the 50D, not for this.
#18
No way, I have been looking at this camera for a while now and was just about to order the KISS X4 to save me some pounds.... but just seen this and ordered it! Thanks ever so much lets hope its honoured and we don't have to wait 3 months! Have some heat my friend!

That post was for Jacobs Digital, which seemed to be a mis-price as it was only up for a very short while, this deal has been going for a few days now, I'm gonna wait for a while to see where the 550D price goes once the 60D is out.

Still a hot deal though.

Surely won't the price of the 50D decrease when the 60D is released ???
#21
There's been price movement on the 550D range ever since the announcement of the 60D.
#22
please buy me one of these!!!
#23
cheapppp i want to buy one, but bought nikon D90 for 639 pounds in high st. 4 days ago...

Don't expect 60D to affect 550D's, as much as Sony Alphy A33/55 I would think.

That's correct, was just pointing out the new gear coming out since someone asked.

There is no replacement coming out at the moment for the 550D as it is a current model.

are u sure u bought the kit with this lens and not the standard kit lens (18-55mm)?
#28
good price for this kit (18-135mm lens), though i picked up the body only 550d on display in Best Buy Southampton during their 20% off sale, managed to secure the mint condition specimen with further 10% off, it eventually came to £468.00 :-)

But thats £100 more expensive..... and for my needs the Canon is a better camera

This is a great camera and my results have been fantastic since I received it a month ago. Video is superb but I need Pinnacle Studio 14 Ultimate for it to work well on my PC.

this is an amazing price - given the lens alone is about £250. I want to buy it but the 60D WILL cause a price drop in the 550D, im just now sure if it will be this low! Im gonna go for it.

Or maybe i will wait a bit longer - some advice please HUKD'ers, ive been waiting for 2 months for the price to drop when the 60D came out, is it worth just going for it at this price?

I gather that the margin on nearly all the bodies is precisely **** all at current market price, for Canon UK stock. So it's not really up to the retailers, it's whether Canon want to lower the price significantly. I'd be surprised if that happened, as it would both devalue the 5xx line and cannibilise 60D sales, but who knows, right?

U can always place your order and monitor the price changes. if your order is despatched you can return the camera provided you dont break the seal on the camera box. (amazon offer free returns). that way you cover yourself for about a month to monitor price changes...

Although the 60d isn't a replacement for the 550d its easy to see why people think that it is as the magnesium body of the xxd series has been dropped in favour of plastic as the 550d which has spoiled the xxd range.

Voted hot as its a good saving:)

Solongsouthall: my advice is buy the 550D. You can wait and wait and the price will always drop until the model is completely exhausted from the market. However for every week you wait you miss using the camera! However if you really want a decent price, then wait for the replacement of the 550D to be out for a few months and shops will want to clear the old models. One thing is for sure in 18 months time you will have an old model DSLR - don't get hung up on that just enjoy using the camera. The 550D is a cracking camera.
