Current price on Dixons website is £569.60 but apply the following code at checkout for a further £50.00 off.
NXJDIX50 (taken from Ganticus's post...hope that's allowed)
Topcashback are currently doing 6.06% cashback on the price excluding VAT, bringing the price down to approx. £493. + £30 cashback by redemption from Canon brings down the price to £463.00
This is a fantastic price and comes with the standard kit lens. This finally convinced me to take the plunge.
Hope this helps someone else who may be considering taking their first steps in to entry level dslr's.

Great price, wish it's the 600D instead.

Thanks

Applying the above codes brings the 600d down to £588 with kit lens, so still a bit of a bargain!

Been thinking of upgrading my 350D to a newer model. The 550D looks like a bargain, is it worth going for the 600D instead?
#4
The 600d is sadly out of stock on the website. I initially had my mind set on the Nikon D90 even though it's a bit long in the tooth it gets some excellent reviews. That's also showing as out of stock but even if it was in stock, for the price i'm paying for the 550d, it's a no brainer.

Thanks for the info, I just checked and OOS as well. I'm thinking of upgrading my 450D and fancy the 600D with the hinged screen and remote flash trigger, but brilliant price for the 550D. Nice find!!

Edit: Funny how the 600D body is same price as the lens kit one, can't see this to last :).

I think the main difference is that the 600d has a swivel screen and better battery life. I'm not sure if that would justify the additional cost above the 550d.

I am looking for good deal as well for the 600d but I can't find any :(
#8
Ordered the 550 last night, quidco has tracked @ £25.98 but don`t know if quidco will go through with the code. wait and see I guess
#9
Exceptional price.
#10
Even Amazon can't get close to this price.
Well done.

Great price. I've been watching this for a few weeks, but have now finally taken the plunge and purchased. Thanks for posting.
#12
crap I ordered the 550 last night with a MVX30OFF (£30) ah well would have only saved £20 more with this code
#13
its showing £599
#14
Great price. Ordered. Thanks.:p

Follow the guidelines above to get this price.; )

550d vs 600d . both are good enough for even a demanding photographer. 600d has much better video controls and some minor stuff.
#17
Says product not available now :( Shame, been tracking this for a few weeks as well
#18
great price! But I got late, it says unavailable now...
#19
ordered earlier but not sure if it's gone thru...
another place to try is dixons travel at airports -> was gonna buy a 600d from them at £592 but unfortunately nt going on a plane anytime soon. they might do better prices for 550d.
#20
shame missed the deal but still voting hot for the price
#21
Looks like this deal should now be expired.
#22
Yeah, gone. Agonized over buying then decided I don't "need" it (and I don't) so didn't. Good hot deal though.
#23
I bought 550D at Christmas, fantastic upgrade from my 350D, however now I would pay extra for 600D as shooting video in sunlight with 550D is difficult as you cant see the LCD screen and a swivel screen would help.
#24
Looks like its back in stock. Really, really tempted. Damn you HUKD!
#25
Amazon has this for £539, at the moment.

Me too. I don't need it and it's terrible trying to force myself not to buy.
Its as bad as giving up ciggies 10 years ago....(was successful in that, and hate the smell of them now - no such luck with HUKD)
#27
550 out weighs the 600 my MILES. you all realize its basically a 7d minus a few small things. the 600 is a spin off with a flip out LCD lol.
#28
Great price - just ordered. :D
Been watching this camera for a couple of weeks now, just waiting for a decent offer to come along.
#29
Hot Deal :)

Back in stock.

Must resist....must resist...damn, ordered 8)
#30
Gone for it as well, thanks OP

Had a call from Dixons to confirm I had placed the order. They asked a few security questions and have now processed the order. Just awaiting despatch confirmation. Topcashback has also tracked at £26. Well chuffed.
First deal posted, don't think it's gone too badly.

For those that are still in two minds as to whether to press the order confirmation button...don't delay it won't be available for long!
Congratulations to all those who have bagged one, we've all got ourselves a great bargain.
#33
Having said that Amazon have dropped their pricing to a little under £540. Dixons may follow suit shortly but I have no idea when the Dixons code expires.

The comparisons are valid but if you compare the prices I think you'll find that the 550d is undoubtedly a great bargain compared to the 600d and A580.

You can find the Alpha A580 with the 18-55mm for less than £550. I even saw it for £529 once.
This camera is much better than the 550D or 600D.

Speak as you find, of course. Given the choice I'd have the Canon every time over the A580
#37
Yeah and I'd rather go for a Nikon :)
#38
thanks for the voucher........i have place the order need to see for good lens 18-200mm
#39
