Yes I think he's confusing it with the A490. It's never been £49 either.

Horses for courses, would I buy one to replace my Canon DSLR... no, would I buy one for my mum who knows beggar all about photography... YUP!!! At the end of the day I'd rather have an ugly camera that takes spot on pictures than a pretty camera (do they even exist) that takes crap pictures!!

my facts are 100% correct ,i have a reciept for refund due to fact the item had aa batteries despite catalogue stating lithium!! .THE BOX STATED AA BATTEIRES printed on it, nothing wrong with aa if thats what you want ,i did not,PLEASE GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT BEFORE COMMENTING on something you know nothing about

So your the only person who bought this to find it needed AA batteries. Other people who bought it found it came with a lithium ion battery. I have one. It has a lithium ion battery.

Seen as you said it cost £49.99 you clearly bought a different camera. Probably an A490 which has been that price and requires AA batteries.

Best let Canon know they don't know the specs of their own product. They should be grateful.

no idea about lithium or aa batteries, but rickj is correct about it being advertised on here for cheaper http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/canon-a3000-10mp-digital-camera-sil/803581

could there be two versions with different batteries?

That (£59.99) was the price of this deal yesterday - it was a deal of the day which has expired. It's just been edited back up to the usual cheap price which seems a bit odd.

As per the description in my post, even though the price has increased by £6.67 from yesterdays deal of the day price of £59.99, it still, in my opinion represents a great buy hence the edit...

I bought this camera and when I opened the battery compartment it was powered by a uranium reactor,I took it back for a refund after my hands went green and fell off and my eyes melted...

The manual
http://files.canon-europe.com/files/soft37725/manual/PSA3150is_3100is_3000is_CUG_EN.pdf
clearly states that the camera includes Battery Charger CB-2LA/2LAE & Battery Pack NB-8L and obviously as can be seen by the shape of the battery, AA ones will not fit the camera.
