if you pay an extra £10 for the Canon A3000 you get a rechargeable battery & a bigger screen.
The A300 is £100 in the current catalogue, but in the details it says it was £179.99.
In the sale leaflet in store its listed as £80.
I bought 3 on Monday as Christmas gifts for £59.99 each
Says on the Argos website that the offer ends today (23/11/2010)
Argos item number is 559/3684

just wondering which is better option a490 and a3000 vis a vis battery: to have an inbuilt rechargible a3000 or to use 2 rechargeble aa battery for a490 as i think in built battery would reduce performance over time and would be more expensive to replace than 2 aa batteries?

I would go for AA batteries any day. Good rechargeable AAs are cheap to buy and last ages (you could carry a spare pair in your camera bag), plus if you get in a bind while out you can buy a cheap set of alkalines to keep you going for the rest of the day.

7dayshop's own brand of rechargeable AAs are very good and inexpensive, and they also do an excellent "Good To Go" range which come pre-charged and will hold their charge for a lot longer than normal rechargeables.
