Not a bad deal but i can see this dropping further this month but most likely in january. This afterall is not a massive saving over other competitors, i would like to see this at £80 to be really hot tbh.

Especialy after the recent 7.2mp sony at like £55 delivered

Just to let people know it comes in 3 other colors as well.

I am getting my daughter a Pink one for Xmas which is £112 at Amazon, cheapest I can find it

>This afterall is not a massive saving over other competitors

I saw this camera in Tesco the other day at £149.

does it offer anything significantly better? I can't see it, this is also a bit more compact and lighter, most reviews point to this camera being a few percentage points better and reliability seems to be less of an issue, although admittedly there is not a great deal in it

Can anybody tell if the Panasonic TZ5 at about £170 is a significantly better camera. I am going to buy the Trouble & Strife a nice camera for Christmas, trouble is which one?

I've always had Canon IXUS' and been delighted with the results. Sadly, I dropped my last one on holiday and just seeing if Canon will fix it! May need to buy a new one and the 960 IS is a great machine. My first 4 megapixel IXUS cost 400 quid back in 2005!

Did anyone actually manage to purchase one of them though? I thought it was out of stock when it was posted on here and so was quickly removed?

The better screen and much better zoom on the TZ5 should make it worth the extra expense.

Different cameras. Canon smaller and not same zoom. These long zooms can be a bit disappointing (small cameras with long zoom easily leads to blurred pictures even with image stabilization)

I'm not a great lover of Panasonic's as they have always had an engine that creates softish pictures to overcome their lousy noise issues with even ISO's as low as 200. However they have moved on considerably in the last 12 - 18 months IMHO. IMHO the Canon will give your wife a higher % 'I'm happy with that picture' than the Panasonic using the green. point & shoot mode. I would say that if you wanted to do more than that with either of the cameras I would then be swayed toward the Panasonic. Just all my opinion.

Very hot, got one back in October and the images i've got are superb. Very easy to use point & shoot and good size too...

Had the exact same issue as you and in the end went for this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Panasonic-DMCFX37-Digital-Camera-Optical/dp/B001D2RDEU/:)

Yeap, out for a walk with my mate the other day. He's just bought the TZ5 I'd never seen a camera of the like before. Awesome. But is there anything else in it's class, cheaper?

I've just ordered this and, with a bit of jiggery pokery at checkout managed to get both the free case and sock together for £109.

If they still have the 960 on offer id go with that, its a bit chunkier but a better performer.

Great price though.

I have wasted so much money on cameras only to find you cant see the lcd screen in bright sunlight. Stick to Canon and Sony if like me you use the camera on the beach or in the mountains in the snow.

Sorry, meant to say. Always get a camera with a viewfinder

Canon, Panasonic, Sony! Canon is the king of the cameras, specially the cutting edge digital cameras. You can't go wrong with Canon iXus. I've been using and recommending iXus for almost a decade now (remember those APS cameras? iXus was the king even back then) and never ever heard or had a complaint with any of the cameras I recommended or used: no issues at all. If I had money I would go for this one as iXus series is reaching the end of the road:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Canon-PowerShot-G10-Digital-Camera/dp/B001FWYT9K/ref=pd_cp_ce_3?pf_rd_p=136153791&pf_rd_s=center-41&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B000V9D6FQ&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_r=16141BDKSZX9XYFHMEZ4

For the time being I am perfectly happy with my iXus.

'Canon is the king of the cameras'. You would have many Nikon users, that would disagree with that statement, and Leica users; well they would want to rip you to pieces. However, buying an Ixus is pretty much a safe thing to do

Just found it too!

ok. Here's what I want to say!

I have used a lot Sony camera's and only taken pictures with a Canon IXUS for other people....

The benefit I see it that...Canon is far superior when taking pictures outdoor's (especially in dark) Sony camera's struggle outside. But indoors, its perfect camera. and in day light the results are slighty shy of Canons's performance.

if you would like make an informed decision then checkout imaging resource site.

Here is a review of a Lumix (panasonic) someone has mentioned they bought in this string. I have never used Lumix....but here it is: http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/FX37/FX37A.HTM

Just add the free promo items shown on the Ixus 80 page and the price gets reduced at the very last screen when you confirm the order.

Just ordered one of these myself and £20 was deducted at final checkout (after entering credit card details).
