This is the cheapest I have seen this lens in the past 5 years. The Canon photographers on Hukd, will know this lens is legendary for its ability to capture portraits with amazing sharpness and Bokeh (background blur). There are very few lenses in the world that can touch this in this respect. It's not a cheap lens and has limited use, but it can be used for indoor sports such as basketball in dimly lit situations.

I have owned this lens for a long time and have captured stunning images.

No doubt some will vote cold due to its cost but hey this is very cheap.

If you compare price, image quality, function, build quality, AF performance etc I think this may be one of the best lenses ever made.

yes its manual, yes it is not well known name, but for non professional work is perfect

For some people auto focus and auto exposure is a must.

Agreed, Id love to see someone MF a moving target at 85mm 1.4. For stationary subjects its still not going to be very easy without MF aids like EVF mag etc.

I think I'd prefer the protection from paying via another means though - need to weight up that 5% to the potential loss (imo). Would also be wary of 'grey imports'

From FAQs:

"10. Will I have to pay any import taxes and duties, such as VAT?

You will not have to pay any. Our prices are all inclusive. All import and customs charges will be covered by us fully, and will be billed to our shipping account directly. You will not be billed."

the samyang is fine for what it is BUT its VERY soft wide open and unless you really need the low light or desire the "softness" and poor corners then theres really no diff between a 85mm f1.8 and the samyang other than the canon having AF and the sanyang not

Tell that to the courier company that contact you before they deliver it. of course you have to pay import duty and VAT - it actually adds about 25% to the cost, thats after its been sat in customs for weeks, theyre clamping down big time. Order one and see for yourself.

You'd be right to be scared about buying from abroad, but you'd be wrong. Panamoz are legit and highly reliable.

Bought at A6000 from them last week. 35% lower thank uk price, 3 day delivery and zero import duty (it was pre-paid by Panamoz via DHL)

I bought something from Panamoz once. It was a few years ago but there was no customs charge, and the package did not have a dodgy declaration on it. I think I paid by bank transfer, they were very positively reviewed so I had some confidence, though not certain. Either way, I had no problem with using them though never needed any warranty help so cannot vouch for that. But I would never import unless the saving would at least cover paying for a repair as a last resort.

And the extra 50mm! I mean, what am I missing that makes an 85mm lens do the same job as a 135mm one?

It would be, had that code not expired yesterday..
