Edit - You will only see the money come off on the screen before actually paying for the item. For instore, you will have to let them know about the deal and they should take it off at the counter.

Pizza_Boy - For those that are not already aware, and have an amex, you can get £10 cashback for a £50 spend, making this £49! You just need to make sure you save the offer to your card on your amex account before you proceed to the checkout.

They also have 20% off majority (24/25) of the other canon lenses they sell.

Wow. Not seen this lens under £60 for a long time. Great deal!

A fantastic price for an incredible lens. One of my fave lens.
This is a fast and sharp lens and got me into primes. I think this is the cheapest I have seen for a new product price. 2nd hand prices are usually around this price or even slightly more.

Amazon will price match this probably. Great price though!

This and the 28mm 2.8 are 2 lenses that should be in everybody's bag. The 50mm 1.4 is nice, but it's not worth the extra over the 1.8 unless you're doing lots of low-light portraits.

Great little nifty fifty!! Sold mine used on eBay for this price a month ago!

if you've got a full format sensor I agree , but equates to an 80mm on a c size canon sensor . Still a good lens and a good deal , I only use mine when I don't want the extra weight of my 17-85 or when there is low light and I can get back far enough!

What's the 28 mm that you speak of

awesome lens, the 1.7 is the one to go for if you can afford it, the bokeh is incredible. However for a budget prime this is outstanding.

I already have a EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 lens that I got with my Canon 400D.

Should I also get the EF 50 mm f/1.8 II Lens? What are the main differences?

The 18-55 is just a standard kit lense. The 50mm allows you to take some fantastic portrait type photography shots. Its a very fast lense allowing you to drop the ISO down where the kit lense would need a much higher value.

Google canon 50mm 1.8 samples and you'll see for yourself.

Much larger aperture on the nifty fifty lens meaning it's better in low light and has a much larger depth of field when at f1.8

yah, typo. The 1.4 is amazing for bokeh, and low light. Debateable whether worth extra cash for your average day to day photographer.

Also, the 1.4 is a heavy beast!

Just ordered....yes, it says 74 right up to the point you put your credit card details in!
#38
Then the price drops...sorry, forgot to add that bit on!

Home delivery not available- waited too long! Maybe Amazon will match...
