Is the cashback guaranteed? Because the lightning deal you linked to states "potential" cashback.

Also, they list the deal at the full price.

They always put potential because the Canon cashback deal can be cancelled by canon at any time in their terms and conditions. When I plan to buy a lens on Canon cashback I go to the Canon website to check its still valid and that the company I plan to buy from is still listed. One example of a change recently was Costco. They used to be on the list last year but are now not eligible for cash back through canon.

Great lens by the way. I've had one for a year now and I'm very impressed with the sharpness of the lens. The image stabilisation is really good on this lens also. Managed some great low light shots without flash.

Great low light with f/4.5? You must really be pushing the ISO then or exposure time.

The IS on this lens give you up to 4 stops. That means you can get away with longer shutter speeds on non moving subjects. I took this lens down the mines in Derbyshire and managed to take some pretty decent pictures with insane low level light without a flash. My camera 750d is fine up to iso1600. It's not a 50mm F1.2 which is a 'fast' lens. But for a very good budget lens it's one of the best. It is by far the better lens compared to the old ef10-22 non IS lens. I've owned that lens when it was first out and was 500 quid. I used it in clubs and was OK. But this new lens even being slightly slower and a slightly more narrow zoom range is brilliant in clubs.

Very sharp lens. One of my favourites.

Confused...DxOMark doesn't report good sharpness for this lens.

DXOmark are controversial to say the least. Partly because they refuse to release their measurement methodology.

I use one of these (with a 550D) for car shows . Produces great wide angle shots

dxomark says they are virtually identical in terms of sharpness, mainly just the 10-22 has a bit better range and costs at least twice as much

Yeah I'll have to agree with you...I think I was thinking of the 20 or 40mm pancake lens DxOMark

code: bigthanks for 10quid off today

10-22 is a difficult choice now. It does have proper ring USM and it's slightly faster too, but frankly that and the extra 4mm just can't outweigh the price difference. it's not particularly sharp either.

Benchmarking tools can only tell you so much- When it comes to deciding what has better image quality, the best thing you can do is actually look at images. Both lenses are sharp when stopped down, but the 10-18mm is noticeably sharper wide open throughout their shared range.

looking at that link - its sharper at 10-12, softer at 14, pretty much the same at the others and no 18+ on the 10-18
overall its so close as to be irrelevant
