Good price according to OP. Thanks

This lens will be shipped without a box. Split from kits for extra value, these lenses are shipped wrapped in bubblewrap and without a box
#6
Good price but who would want to use it?

Sounds like returns then.

What is the build quality like on these compared to the kit lens? Are they plastic or metal casing?

It's an EF-S lens so it'll be on par with the kit lens both build quality wise and optically.

Great. I need a lens to replace my 18-55mm that came with my E350 kit. After a couple of years it died, leaving me with only a macro lens. I need to take some photos in a range slightly above my macro capability. 20mm-25mm would do it.

A poor show in terms of optical quality. This is not the first review to state this either....

I wouldn't bother with this lens then. You can pick up a Canon EF-S 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 IS (supplied with the 550d) for about £150. I am sceptical of these 'super' zoom lenses. More often than not they are awful.

I have read that RGB do split kit lenses which I assume is perhaps from people wanting to buy a body only when no stock perhaps but you do tend to get a lens or camera body that is slightly cheaper.

I have read of a lot of people getting 24-105mm f/4 L IS lenses in a white box from the Canon 5D kits

they are foreign import lenses too... + the people in the store at middlesbrough are complete dicks.
