Decent price now (so not voting cold), but was £75/80 not so long ago.

Such an entry-level lens too. The EF 50mm f1.8 II will produce much better images.

mmmmm I am thinking why does seem to be good value? am I missing something? it's a standard lens for many cameras and you can pick them up for around £69*, albeit taken from kits and you can also buy used ones for around £50.
I think after you have used this lens for a few months you would be looking for another lens such as 17-85 like I did, and then do like am doing now, buying a 17-200 but this time buying a used one in the knowledge if I decide to sell I would not lose so much
So is it good value. .I think not. If you are looking for a 17-55 I would consider buying a used one knowing when you want to upgrade (as you surely will) you will sell it for around the price you paid for it

* prices seem to be increasing maybe due to Japans situation

Why on earth would anyone want to spend £100 on this rather unspectacular plastic 'kit' lens is beyond me.....

Ice cold.
