is this kit worth getting vs the IS kit refurb (if it ever comes back)? I'm primary going to be using it at music events (think dark with huge lazers/pyrotechnics)

with dslr's I'm pretty damn out of my depths!

U r probably best to go with an IS lens. As u would most likely be shooting by hand the IS will be more sensible. Plus you may also want a 50mm prime lens with f1.8 for low light shots.

Check your local Currys first. This model is discontinued & seen it in Currys for £180 (may have been display model)

Also they might have more completely new for the same price. Went into my local currys and they only had a display model then they checked on their system and there was a shop near me with 3 1100ds

Sweet, will check this out tomorrow

Update: lazy guy in Aberdeen wouldn't even check for me to see if stores close by had it. Another person checked they were sold out the week before. They were selling twin kits for £200
