This is an excellent price for this DSLR given its RRP. The cashback is from Canon itself and the offer expires in June 08. I received £50 from Canon last year on a similar deal. If you are considering the EOS 450D, then give this camera some careful consideration too. There is a comprehensive review at dpreview.com. Don't forget 3% cashback from Jessops as well.

I have been looking into buying the 40D. Jessops seems to be the cheapest at £519 after cashback and a £10 voucher. But these guys seem to offer the best deal equipmentexpress.co.uk
I phoned them on saturday and the 40D body was £639 before cashback, but you also got a 4gb card, camera case, table top tripod, free delivery and a 3 year warranty instead of a standard 1 year. For the extra £20 (£539 final price after cashback) i think the 2 years extra warranty are worth it alone.

Hope this helps James

ah never mind. its 40D versus 400D.

Basically the 400D is the entry level SLR (older one) and the 40D is the reasonably new semi-pro SLR - in general this means tougher build, better AF system, faster burst mode etc.
