It doesn't actually state that the bigger of the two lenses is IS though?

They're both IS lenses, Canon only made one EF-S 55-250mm lens.

If your serious about getting a DSL, you might be better off getting the 40d (body only) at about £630, will save you upgrading again later or if you're just starting out get a 400d and a kit lens for less than £400.

The 55-250 IS has gone up slightly to £180 ish (got mine for £177) and i like it on my 400d

I like the look of the Argos deal as I have nearly £120 in Nectar vouchers plus the £50 cashback.

I had put in the orginal post the catalogue does state IS lens for both,the next nearest price in stock is Play.com at £679.00
