It's a decent price when you take the £35 off, however, it's worth noting that the kit lens is NOT the IS version. Take at look at this offer at Amazon for £512.27 which includes the IS lens. Also, it's £515 at John Lewis with the IS lens.

Well spotted, I didn't think they sold the 500D without the IS lens. Was about to vote hot, but the lack of an image stabilised lens makes this a much poorer deal than I initially thought.

IS makes a big difference IMO. My current Pentax SLR has image stabilisation and I can confidently get sharp had held shots down to 1/15th sec and sometimes even 1/8 sec. With my previous non IS camera, I rarely got a sharp shots at 1/30th sec.
