Hi All,

Just picked up two Canon EOS 500d kit with lens from Merryhill Currys clearance store for £202.44 each with a 12 month warranty, they are ex display units and are as new, all the accessories are in the box and haven't been used. I bought 2 and it seems there are 2 left in the display cabinet, however they might have more out the back if you ask?.

Also they had a load of Pentax SLR's for sale for under £200 with a lens.

    i had the canon 400d, it was pants,,they had a problem where they took … i had the canon 400d, it was pants,,they had a problem where they took dark pictures all the time, sold the pos and got a nikon, canon would not help but the internet was riddled with complaints, i hope that this has no problems like that.great price and well done.


    Did you try taking the lense cap off? lol

    Cracking price. A general exposure inaccuracy issue can affect just about any camera, even some high end models. Carefully check your early test shots then dial in some EV compensation and leave it there, usually a third or two thirds of a stop will really improve the quality of your shots. If you just shoot jpeg you've got to nail those exposures every time. Also remember your LCD might then look like the image is starting to clip but trust your preparation - and get your head around the live histogram to assure yourself your captures are absolutely on the money.

    I picked up the Pentax k-x twin kit for £175. Absolute bargain. Saw another guy in there asking about the 500D saying it had been on this site but they had sold out.

    What, no onboard image stabiliser on this camera?!?! Great price though, have had some great deal from that Merry Hill Clearance store.

    Thought that place had closed. Last time I went there were hardly any TV's left and I heard the guy there saying it was set to close

    It's shutting end of this or next week, had a fair few tellys from there. Just cameras, sat navs, PC's, cookers, washing machines, monitors and tv's under 26" left.

    They have another Clearance store in Chester, however none are local to me as I live in Cardiff.

    Battery model LP-E5, still a bargain mate even if you need to buy a battery.
    Must have seen you in there as I was there at that time.

    That's how everything get's discounted at the till in that shop, set percentages off different types of items - No both brand new, the others were ex display which was only the camera body that had been on display or in a cabinet, but to be honest they even looked brand new and untouched.

    I'd buy one of these in a heat beat for that kind of price. Never had a problem with my previous Canon.

    Probably, but I wouldn't be too concerned - Canon make incredible DSLR's and you would be happy if you bought one.

    Doubt it.
    Canon, Nikon and Pentax are all great cameras.
    Wouldn't pay what they want for their stuff though.
    Would have happily paid 200 smackers for a Canon 500 with lens, mind !

    I just simply pointed out the quantity I took and the amount left on the shelf so I know there is deffo 2 there for someone, like all stores they have a stock room and could have more out there, I didn't ask - Was only trying to be informative and helpful in my post.
