Very attractive price that.

Good price just a shame that Play are not Canon authorised E-Tailers, meaning chances are you won't get the £65 Cashback

I'm not sure if it matters. According to my last experience claiming cashback from Canon, they dont even ask for the invoice.

Update: According to the claim form (http://media.play.com/ContentDocs/3378_EOS%20500D-550D-50D%20Cashback_Cover_Claim%20form.pdf), they DO ask for the ORIGINAL receipt or valid proof of purchase this time.

Hmm... can anyone else confirm this? I mean even without cashback its still cheapest price anywhere..

theres a number on there T&C's (44(0) 1737 220000) for those willing to get this, can call the number and confirm if they will accept claims for cameras brought from play

From google, the next best price is 599.99 from amazon. You can buy it refurbished from Play Trade for 387.41. Anyone has got other finds?

Ive just been checking, and seen some very favourable reviews compared to the D90,,

It's a great camera, I paid £650 for mine less than a year ago and I'm very happy with it.

Can recommend the 15-85mm IS lens for it too

I'd personally be wary of purchasing from a non Canon authorised retailer. I picked up my old 1D III in Hong Kong due to the wait for these back home in NZ, and it proved a right pain in the ass getting the submirror fixed, even though I purchased through a Canon authorised retailer in HK.

I'd suggest that as Play aren't listed on the Canon UK website as an authorised retailer, they may have been sourced from outside the UK, meaning no warranty through Canon UK, they would need to be shipped back to source for repairs under warranty, and no cashback from Canon UK.

Nice cameras though, my 40D is still going strong, fingers crossed the 60D is just around the corner.

Play themselves mention the cashback and provide a link however T&Cs state: "To enter the promotion, the participant must purchase the Canon EOS 500D, EOS 550D or EOS 50D (any configuration), from a retailer within the UK or the Republic of Ireland".

Play is based in Jersey which is neither.

Worth a call to the cashback team, it's an 0800 number anyway,

Nice.

Can't see anything on the cashback form stating retailer has to be authorised Canon but it does say: This promotion is only available on purchases of the Canon EOS 500D, EOS 550D and EOS
50D (any configuration), in the UK or the Republic of Ireland from participating retailers.

Play do have the cashback form right under the camera details though.

Edit: Damn, publicnme beat me to it while I was typing

If they have it listed on their site I guess they must be authorised, or very keen to get reamed by trading standards, maybe Canon forgot to add them to their website ?
