The 12 minute limit is only with 4GB cards. ... you can record 49 minutes of video on average, according to my 550D manual

If I was spending just shy of 600 notes on a new camera, I'd go with a reputable company and have peace of mind rather than with someone with poor online reviews who sells grey imports (for the sake of only £10)

It splits the file, like most digital camcorders.

While I've no doubt this is a good camera and a good deal I think you could get better photos with a second hand 30D and a couple of fast lenses for the same money.

Warning - may be cheaper but they don't always deliver - read the reviews before you buy from them !!!

How on earth is it pointless? People looking at this thread are thinking of buying a camera. I'm giving my opinion on a good way to spend this kind of money on a Camera.

Your post is both pointless and ignorant to the point of this site.

You can get the Kiss 550d's (jap version) for 500 on eBay. Would this be advisable?

To be fair to Mallinersha .. if someone is looking to spend this sort of money on a camera, then they should have some knowledge about photography as it's not exactly a starter DSLR, so they should know the difference between this and a 30D.

Arguing you can take "better" photo's with a 30D is nonsense. A decent photo depends on a) the kit you're using and b) the ability of the photographer ... and more so on the latter as if you can't take a decent photo and were using a 5D Mark II the shots will still look poor.

Fast lenses and a 30D won't guarantee decent photos and neither will this setup. BUT practice and experience will :)

People looking at this thread will be looking to get this camera for it's features, 1080p video recording and Live View amongst other newer better features, NOT a 4 year old inferior camera, Tut...

My pointless post comment still stands.

Any photographer knows the most important element is the photographer, then light, then lens then camera.
