arguable. every brand user will wax lyrical over whatever they use. e.g i would argue canon is best as their glass is generally cheaper for better quality optics. but i shoot canon...

In the free Harvard photography course, the lecturer says that it's probably best to stick to Canon or Nikon:

It's never quite that simple with DSLR. Looking at camerapricebuster the most comparable Pentax models to this deal right now are the K5 II and K3 (the K5 UI being roughly £80 cheaper, the K3 being £80 more expensive). The cheaper K5II has better dynamic range and ISO performance, as well as in-body image stabilisation as advantages, while the Canon has a superior autofocus system for tracking, the flip-out touchscreen, a far superior selection of native autofocusing lenses and generally far superior video performance. Meanwhile the pricier K3 keeps the image quality and stabilisation benefits, but gains superior tracking autofocus and continuous shooting speed. The Canon keeps its video and lens advantages though.

Basically you just need to decide what you want from a camera then look at the options at your price point :)

If that's genuinely what it says, then it's a really stupid thing to say.

Pentax are one of the world's largest optical companies. Been going since 1952. They used to be a big noise in consumer optical, now more specialist commercial.

Their current lenses seem to be rebranded Tamrons mostly. The cameras look great value for money and well built, probably more waterproof than any other manufacturer and the bodies themselves are great value, but I couldn't live with the fact I've got Tamron glass I could have had in front of a Canon or Nikon body with the option to get something potentially better - with Pentax you don't have that.

Well, it's an American course so my expectations weren't overly high :p

The 70D is superior in every regard besides the modest sensor improvement in the 750D. And if absolute image quality is the primary concern, I would sooner pick up a modern Pentax, Nikon, Sony or Fuji camera which are even further ahead.

What sort of photography do you want to do?

Better off getting a cheaper body and better lens..

Saying that, I do have the 70D and have taken some good pictures with it. It's pretty bulky and barely gets used these days unless I'm on holiday and even then its a hassle due to its size.

DSLRs are a dying breed. The pros don't outweigh the cons for the normal user.

70D vs 80D any suggestions?

+ 3.3% Quidco? This looks like a very good deal. Makes sense that Canon are clearing remaining stock as this has been replaced by the 80D.

80D is the upgraded replacement for the 70D, so it's obviously better. But is also more expensive - at this price the 70D could be considered better value.

Does that apply to all canon cameras then
Bit of a sweeping statement

Isn't Canon's warranty worldwide?

I know this doesnt exactly matter, I had a big Sigma EX lens and they repaired it as per global warranty, but I still got a lecture for it. :/ I'm sorry for buying a lens in the country I was in...
