600D is for girls on instagram. 70D is real men's toy.

Grate deal ?
#2
Don't forget the Canon £100 cashback, the Argos £10 voucher and whatever TCB will refund
#3
Does it come with some sort of drain cover?
#4
It really is a 'grate' deal, considering that Canon are doing £100 cashback on this combo until 13 August :D
#5
grate find

Assuming that you get the same lens as shown in the picture, this is a pretty good deal. The 18-55mm STM lens plays to the 70D's strengths whereas the older 18-55mm DC lens would be the weakest link and slow everything down.

Heat added.

Hell of a lot better than a 600D. I just bought a 60D recently and was mulling over if the jump to the 70D was worth it. At this price it would have been!

I did exactly the same and watched the price for months, the jump is phenomenal and absolutely worth it, I was wondering about the extra spend but its a dream to use.

It's decisively better IMO. The 600D's lower cost is its only advantage.

I had a 550D before and it was definitely worth the upgrade.

It's better for video. Not sure there's much in it for stills though

That depends. If you're shooting stills of your food, no there's not a huge amount between them though the 70D gets less noisy images at higher ISO levels. However, if you're shooting sports and action, the 70D is far superior with more accurate and more consistent autofocus, not to mention nearly twice as many frames per second.

That's a fairly vague question as you haven't specified what is a "good price", nor have you specified a zoom range i.e. a wide angle zoom or a long focus zoom.

You can get the Canon 15-85mm, which has a modest range but the image quality is good compared to the much more expensive Canon 17-55mm f/2.8. There's also the inexpensive Sigma 28-300mm but it has a lot of colour fringing and soft detailing and it's only worth buying you really want a wide zoom range at the expense of image quality.

If you're comfortable with a grey import (no Canon UK warranty) - this is significantly cheaper even accounting for the Canon cashback (£695 but only £660 by bank transfer. I've used these guys before for much higher end gear (70-200 2.8 MK II for example) no issues and a colleague just had a 6D and a 100mm 2.8L - all delivered within a week)

Consumerism and lazy sexism at their finest.

The 600D is perfectly adequate for most people getting started in DSLR photography despite the 70D being vastly superior.

In any case, the 600D is nowhere near trendy enough for instagram.

Cold for providing a forum for camera nerds to battle over who has the superior knowledge and provide smug put-downs.

(I didn't ACTUALLY vote)

a 600d is a good camera... i don't see the point of upgrading for the average user... learn how to make the best use of what you've got and maybe spend that upgrade money on a good lens.
That said if it's fast action shots you are taking the 70d has less lag and more frames per sec
Buying the latest camera doesn't make you a better photographer... it takes some people a long time to realize that.

No DLSR comes anywhere near the video focus capabilities on this camera, not even a MK III.

I'm a n00b at photography, I could buy this camera but I won't because it won't make me better, I'll start off with a cheaper deal, then learn what extra functions and image quality I require. I plan on photographing badgers whoops doh I mean beavers, but my mate's nan isn't too sure about it yet.

Yes, this has an EF-S mount so it'll take both EF and EF-S lenses

Since when does an instance of people having vastly dissenting opinions constitute as being them claiming to be experts?

Does everybody have to blindly nod and agree like a yes man in your world?

The 1D Mark III shoots more quickly and has a larger buffer. You'd get better dynamic range with the larger sensor as well, especially if you've got good glass in front of it. Its autofocus through the VF is better than the 70D though you need to set a zone to get the most out of it.

If you have EF-S lenses, they won't work on the 1D Mark III.

Nobody has to agree and I'm certainly not agreeing with you, you make the silly comment that no DSLR comes close....... And I'm certainly no Yes man otherwise I would be agreeing with your stupid uneducated statement.

Really or just trolling? Otherwise money must come easy for you to be able to dismiss £100 so easily.

Heated deal for price. Would be torn between this and a D7100 myself.

Heat added. Good price for the 70D + accessories compared to other retailers

Although I'm still smug with my 6D for £749 from John Lewis after a cheeky price match with SLR Hut and £150 cashback from Canon 8)

It doesn't actually say it comes with those accessories does it? Just says lens.

Actually the Canon cashback is super easy - just go online and fill in the details of the serial number and your bank account, scan the receipt (or take photo of it with your phone) and attach. Easy - money arrives in your bank account within a month (think it was 3 weeks to the day for the most recent £100 I got back from them)

Super easy - £100 thanks very much, yes I will take it!
