Looks hot to me! I guess they are getting rid of stocks for the Eos 1000D which is an almost identical machine but re-branded.
#3
not sure about this website, but it's 100quad cheaper than the high street price, vote hot
#4
It's hot - but spend some cash on a decent lens.

I sold my 400d and a 24-105 L lens for a D80 kit (I like the colours you get out of the cam on the nikon)

But fairford is coming up and I am very tempted to get this again cos I havent had time to learn the D80 properly !

Grrrrrrrrr

Excellent deal for an excellent camera !

SUPER HOT price!!!

I bought this camera for about £30 more and it's fantastic.

The kit lens isn't as bad as some make out - I've had some great shots out of it and am very pleased with the results

Also if you are getting one of these it would be good to also get a 4gb Sandisk Extreme III compact flash card from Play.com which is on offer at £17.99

Umm, yes it does, and the optical zoom is about 3x

But to be honest with you, this is a D SLR, not a normal point and shoot, this may not be what you are after if you are used to normal point and shoot cams.

The canon deal appears to be that you buy the camera at £299, then you have to follow the link to the Canon cashback deal which tells you how to claim - AFTER you've bought. You need the serial number of the camera and a copy of the receipt. You have until... goes to check....

DAMMIT!!!! I lost the damn sale because I came on here to post this !! They're out of stock now !!

I can't believe this... I actually had two of them in my basket and deleted them as I only wanted one - now I can't even buy one as the offer is gone...

The Canon cashback is for purchases made before 30th June not claims made before this date.

If you can prove date of order (you have to send a copy of the invoice anyway) then you'll be fine.

I bought mine in March and only posted off the cashback details this week.

Just read canons terms and conditions:

"The promotion period is 01/03/2008 to 30/06/2008. To qualify for this promotion, the products must be purchased during this period and the claim form sent off on or before 15/08/2008(for Spain always three months after expiry date)"

So i think you can claim the cash back after the 30th june

It's back online now - just bagged one.

My first delve into Digital SLR's. Some of the sample shots i've seen online look great.

Is it worth becoming a member for the 3 year warranty and does this have to be renewed every year to keep the 3 year warranty.

:w00t::w00t::w00t: Oh Happy happy happy !!! After reading Toonarmani's post (whilst I was trying to get through to them on the phone, to see if they could still sell one to me), I tried again online and magically - the camera is back on sale !! I even managed to go through Quidco and save another 2%.

Happy day ! Thanks Toonarmani - you've made me a happy man today ! I've been looking for one of these for my Mrs for a while - and this deal is frankly, amazing. They're going on eBay for more than this - USED ! I'm not telling her about it - she can take delivery of it next week and be surprised.
#33
Thinking about getting one today from either, Currys, Dixons or PC World getting them to price match this price.
#34
I think they are about £376 at Amazon incl delivery

Don't know what you've seen but this will perform excellently in the dark. Obviously if you want to shoot in the dark with no flash you'd need a prime lens but that's true of any non-pro camera kit.
Great deal, shame it's expired .
#36
Yep, gone again. Was lucky to get my order in. Won't be able to price match instore if not in stock online
#37
Canon digital SLR low light high iso / low noise capability is superb.

As others have said, this performs very well in the dark. Until the recent Nikon camera releases, Canon were clearly the best for shotting in the dark at high iso.
Now, they are both pretty darned good.

My brother ( a semi-pro photographer) bought the original 300D (a few years ago) specifically for it's low-light performance and colour reproduction, as he specialises in photographing fireworks.
This is better than the 300D.
