Why has this expired, I just picked up mine from Jessops in Colchester for £219, the manager a really nice lady handed it over with no quibbles at all. Guess me and the couple in front of me who bought two on the same deal must have struck lucky - very lucky.

As you can see from my receipt this is true (not taken on the new camera!!) - plus I have voucher for £50 cashback, making my camera £169:giggle:

    I am well chuffed.

    Thanks for the post.

I'd be surprised if anyone got away with this offer! Good luck to those who will try...

What about getting it from Pixmania? Don't they have to honour that advertised price?

Why did someone vote cold?!? This camera is around £500!

So pixmania are advertising it for that IN the magazine?
If so, I'll be going on a journey on the 6th!

    Could be a bargain! :santa:
    Thank you

Jessops have always refused price match Pixmania whenever I've tried in the past. So I wouldn't get your hopes up.
  8. horstachio's avatar
Then I will buy it from Pixmania then!

I suspect a get out clause could be that Pixmania are not in UK but based in France. :-(

Edit: If Jessops are on the verge of going under, they soon will if they honour this price for everyone! :w00t:

Does the £219 include the £50 cashback from Canon?

Including or not, it's an amazing price. Check how much it goes for. It's a great camera, mate has it and at £269 with £50 cashback it's unbeatable. I would pay £269 with no cash back for it personally!

I know its a great price, just thinking that if it is after the cashback then its more chance to not be a pricing error.

How long until some idiot posts

"I've just rung Jessops and they said they won't be honoring it, and by the way they've told head office who have sent out a bulletin to all stores not to do so as well"

But they say the WILL pricematch any offer in the magazine as long as they are in stock, and pixmania have a UK store.

In your prior experience did you have a magazine with a Jessops voucher in saying that they would pricematch anything in THAT magazine?

It's obviously a pricing error, the camera is currently £425 on the Pixmania website, does anyone really believe that the price will be nearly halved?

Jessops will do a price check on Pixmania and the price match will be the actual price, not match an error in an advertisement by one of their competitors! These guys are in business to make money, not sell at less than cost.

I hope I'm wrong, but I doubt it.

Please tell me this is a pricing error. I bought this camera as a Christmas present for my daughter 2 days ago after much research from Jessops (£394 before canon voucher) and got an extra tenner back on Quidco.

Anyone know if Jessops have any kind of price promise?

Even if they don't (I'm not sure either way) then you can just return the camera since it's still unopened. Most highstreet stores have at least 7days with which you can return unopened items for a "no quibble refund."

That way you can guarantee they will have stock of the camera and then buy it back at £219 with the magazine mentioned in this deal

Don't wait around too long. After a while Jessops HQ might start getting the message down to stores to stop honouring the pricematch regardless of any T&Cs on the magazine ad.
  31. anishnair's avatar
From my past experience, jessop will check with Head Office before every price match if its higher than a certain percentage allowed for the store manager. They will not pricematch with non-UK bussiness like Pixmania, 7dayshop etc..
  32. monkey_uk's avatar
Has anyone actually mnaged to get one yet?

We will find out on Thursday when/if Pixmania change the price. I'm going into Jessops at 9am if I cannot get it at Pixmania.

Can someone tell me the full name of the magazine as there seems to be quite a few of them with similar names.

    Thanks

Pixmania is now a UK company, owned by DSG the Dixons, Currys, PcWorld group.

This looks an amazing deal, but?!

Does the 400D have a movie mode?

I know my Canon compact does at 640X480 resolution.
  38. F355's avatar
This is definitely a miss price and Jessops will not honor it, neither will Pixmania. The profit margin on SLRs is so low that it is impossible that they can sell it for nearly half of the retail price, not to mention without the £50 cashback!

No current SLR I am aware of has a moviemode, the Canon 400D doesn't even have a live preview mode on the screen - you have to use the viewfinder. SLRs and compact cameras are quite different in the way they function making SLRs less suitable for movie modes.

Anyone know if there's any good Sigma SD14 prices in the magazine?
