Is that the American NTSC or UK PAL model? Easiest way to tell is that the Cini mode on the camera will be 24p for NTSC and 25p for PAL. The description mentions 25P shoot mode, suggesting the PAL model. But the reason I ask is that website seems to lack any address or phone number contact details and WHOIS seems to suggest the domain is registered in the US. On ebay, often the cheapest camcorders end up being the American or Japanese NTSC models imported in. Of course they might of just got some cheap PAL stock, now Canon have released the improved HV30 which adds a 30p mode useful for youtube videos.

Strangely though, their HG10 (hard drive version of the HV20) description mentions 24P which would suggest the NTSC model. Very confusing. The price isn't that great either..maybe since the HG10 hasn't been replaced yet like the HV20.

Do a bit of research on 'bestpricedbrands.co.uk' - They seem to take claim 'in-stock' charge your credit card and then take 3-4 weeks to delivery (if at all). Sounds like they import US or JAP models.

I'm after this camera too. Going to Disney Florida for 3 weeks in July. So mulling over buying now so i can get some experience with it. Also, places like Australia are reporting shortages of the HV20 due to the launch of the HV30.

Looks like I'm being more and more tempted to buy now rather than wait. Think it will be from Amazon. At least you get the price drop guarantee if they reduce this price further.

Now down to £534.20

It had gone up to £544 for the past week, but now it's dropped again.

Oooohhh, I'm so tempted to get this now. Been downloading samples all week and the quality looks amazing.

This short vid has probably sold more HV20s than Canon's own marketing efforts.

Also £534.20 at TescoDirect - clubpoints and Quidco  Although charge £4.95 delivery whereas Amazon are Free and have the price promise.

I've gone and done it now - Ordered one from Amazon. The price promise swayed me, as it's likely to be reduced further with it being replaced by the HV30.

I'd love to own one of these...

Price is £534.20 on Amazon at the moment
#15
is it worth getting the HV30 over this one?

Wow is gone up to £620.21. I am guessing the introduction of the new hv30, I just thought it would just keep on going down, guess I was wrong!
