That's a very good price for this - it's £140 at Amazon.

Anyone ordered from here before?

i,ve got one of these, payed £120 from currys before xmas. Its one of the best compact cameras i have ever had. the quality of the photos is incredible. the LCD is massive and it is so easy to use. It also does video and great quality. And it fits into your pocket easily. took it to a xmas do and everybody commented on how good it was. tehy sold out at a lot of places before xmas so get em while you can.
#3
Its a great camera..but was on offer for about £116 from currys, jessops etc before Xmas.
I paid £116 from Jessops for a Xmas present. It came with the official Ixus leather case, and an Ixus neck strap. (worth more than £16).
But this is still an excellent choice :) especially as I dont think you can get the Jessops deal anymore.
The LCD takes up a lot of the back. 3".
Highly recommended for £100

thanks guys o just bought one

With a bit of luck Amazon will drop the price to be competitive with this deal, then I can claim the difference back. :)

Very good price for a very good camera.
#6
Voted hot, purchased one of these in the morning...rude not to at this price. The Canon A630 was also posted for the same price, its a superior camera with better sharpness but its a bit too big(had to return my A630 due to a lint inside the lens, really fantastic camera). Willing to sacrifice a little quality for a more compact and sexier camera.
#7
Marvellous. And with a 1gb memory card at £5.99 too.

Curry's didn't have any in stock (£119). Sales chap said they were end of the line.

Fool.

anyone know how long the batteries last?

Another vote for this camera. I paid £180 for it in the summer. I ordered a laptop from Empiredirect and it turned up the next day.

ps anyone know what the maximum amount of memory this camera can take it? i reckon ill play it safe wit ha 2gb i dont think itll take a 4gb
#11
not the most flattering of reviews tho, all reviews pretty much say the same thing "image quality a big let down"
#12
Best avoid Canon. The lens gets jammed too easily and a jam isn't covered under warranty. Look for something without an extending lens like a Casio or Sony.
#13
Cracking camera this. Gets very good user reviews on likes of Amazon. Ordered 2 of these one for my nephew and one for my sister. A friend of mine has had several cameras over the years in the Ixus range and suffered no problems whatsoever.

Its like any product you will always have those telling you its the dogs nads and someone else telling you its rubbish. what's OK for one may not be OK for someone else.

Voted hot :)

Canon IXUS range is tops, it;s just the canon ixus 65 and ixus 75 that get bad reviews, great price all the same

I'm confused...

They seem to have that for £99.99 but also list an Ixus 75-Black for £159.99?

They're the same. The 75 / Powershot 750 also come in just silver. The black looks like the Ixus 70 model.

Couple more reviews here, here and here.

Been after one of these for some time. The fact that some thief robbed my last one a few days ago finally gives me the chance.

Had one in my basket for a few mins and now it's expired...damn!

wtf are you talking about:
"The Canon IXUS 75 is simply the best pocket sized digital camera I have tested recently. It did well in just about every test I put it through. I was impressed with my test results in lowlight as well as outdoors. Add in the 3 inch screen and you have an excellent camera. Recommended"

No review mentions this, it sounds like your own personal experience more than anything I have heard canon make excellent digital cameras from many reputable websites.

Got the 4gb sdhc card from play in this with no problems at all.

thx its very hard to find information on what the most a camera can take is

Seems to have completely disappeared from the site. Misprice? The IXUS75 still on there is £159.99.
#23
They had one at £99.99 and the one that is there now @ £159.99 (stating as black). Fingers crossed that they despatch these otherwise I know 2 people in my family who are going to be a tad gutted.

Thought about ordering one of these earlier but remembered my only previous dealing with empiredirect.co.uk which was an absolute disaster, they only sent one item despite charging for two AND sent me the biggest pile of **** camera I have ever had the misfortune of turning on because they ran out of stock of the one ordered, and then took 2 weeks to pick it up and even longer to refund!

Not that there may be anything wrong here, but just be careful as they have pulled the deal now that they don't try and send you an inferior camera.
#31
Thanks for the word of warning .

I will be watching those "seals" on box

and if there are any problems i will be looking for full refund :)

The fact there is a whole web site dedicated to the problem speaks for itself http://www.e18error.com/
and another
http://www.bitnet.cx/canon.html
and as you can see this fault is still in the Ixus 75

Steve Tran - 12.23.2007 SD750 / Digital IXUS 75
The camera was working fine the day before, and then now, I get the lens error message.

I got the same error and a lens jam on my Ixus I zoom and the local canon dealer wouldn't repair it even though it was under warranty. And its the same story for everyone else, hence the talk of a class action. Even people who take great care of the camera, as I did, still get the lens jam.
#33
:x it would appear the site as either sold out or realised it was a misprice...no longer available!!
#34
I ordered 2 of these one via there own checkout and one via Google Checkout. The Google one is still active but the one via their checkout has been cancelled.

wow thanks for elaborating I can only hope that

a) canon have gotten their act together since this started and change the way they make them
and b) that i am not in the minority of people who experience this!
#37
I ordered one of these last night and on the empire direct web site it has given me a order number but when I try to access the order it tells me the page is missing so either the web site is down or they have cancelled my order...hope not or they will have lost a customer without me even buying anything!!!
#38
Bloomin annoying. Recieved an email saying they were out of stock so had to call and cancel. Just glad i didn't buy any extras from anyone else. Rubbish Empire. :-(
#39
also have had cancellation e-mail - what is the legal position here??

They taken my money and now claim they can't supply stock.
#40
They still have the item for sale on their site. But at £159.

Thank you for your recent order from our website.

Unfortunately the item is discontinued. Whilst we did have a few left, the stock was allocated on a strictly "first come, first served" basis due to the popularity of the products and prices on offer.

Regrettably, on this occasion, we are unable to allocate stock to your order as we received orders preceding yours for the stock that was available. Please call our sales desk on 08701201122 to discuss possible alternatives or if you would like to cancel you orde
