Most of the people dont provide the proof. TRUST

Not saying that this is a bad deal as this is clearly a good price for right now but I did buy this exact camera last December from amazon for £100.

I would have hoped that it had reduced in price by now.

I second that. I bought one of these not too long ago for slightly more and I thought it was still worth the price. :-D

Bought this camera 6 months ago, use it every day in my job. Hard to fault, bombproof and good quality images.

Had this camera, and another Canon camera.

All I can say is, if it's possible, try to stear well clear of Canon cameras. The quality of the images are great, they're a leading brand, great specs on their phones, great features.

There's just one problem. It's called the E18 error, and it's happened to me with this camera after about a year's usage. Like many, many other Canon users, it happened out of the blue, despite good treatment of the camera itself.

There's a website dedicated to the E18 error (google it), detailing the problems and how Canon are refusing to acknowledge the existence of the error being down to some design flaw in their lens'. It's a bit like the Xbox 360 and the Red Ring of Death, except that unlike Canon, Microsoft have the decency to acknowledge and fix these errors.

No doubt there are many people with Canon cameras that work fine, have worked fine for a lengthy period of time, so on and so forth. All I can say is that noone really knows the extent of the problem, i.e. what the failure rate is, other than knowing that a large volume of people have had it (the E18 website refers to planned lawsuits against Canon by a group which has taken the likes of Apple to court, unfortunately this seems to have been shelved with no progress in this department).

Had to bin my Ixus 80 after the E18 error randomy appeared one day, emailed Canon but they responded by saying that I would have to pay for the repair.

Interesting websites:

http://e18.bitnet.cx/comments.php

The deal itself is hot though, if you ignore the aforementioned problems.

Thanks for this - have some rep. I've got an Ixus 60 and have had it for 3 years without problem. It's a superb camera in every way. Not aware of the E18 problem, but it's useful to know about.

No luck here at the Inverness Tesco's - drove all the way up there at 4am this morning hoping to grab one!

I've had 3 Canons and loved them all compared to the Kodaks, Olympus and Fuji cameras which all got the boot. True, one got the E18 error but only after my wife dropped it 5 foot onto the lens on a marble floor.

these cameras are fantastic, one of the best 8mp compacts, if not the best. camera feels very solid and the results are really great. i'd recommend it highly

Interesting reading about the e18 error. I also have had 2 Ixi(?) and the've been fab.No e18 error although I did drop it on the lens and it broke. Sent it back to Canon and they repaired free of charge. You can't say fairer than that. Top pics, rich colours, sharp focus. Love them.

No luck @ Tesco Chatham, Kent :(

went to tesco extra in Leeds - they had them on display but were sold out

I've also had the e18 on a lovely ixus 850 I bought in HK a couple years ago. I love canon cameras but the feeling from seeing e18 and having an expensive piece of kit sitting redundant on the shelf isn't too great.

Cold - another supermarket offer that's not generally available.

Lot of money for the spec too.

Bought one of these recently, managed to pick it up for £90, but even at £99 it is excellent value. They are top cameras, well reviewed, very sturdy and robust (they are metal not plastic) and take excellent pictures. You can't go far wrong with Canon, I swear by them and this is no exception.

Don;t believe all the nonsense about mega pixels. It's the quality of the picture that counts and my old Ixus 4mp takes better pictures than dodgy 12mp cameras I've seen, including my mate's Kodak.

Got one Yesterday from Tesco at Warrington. They had a few more in aswell. They are not on the camera display just below it in security boxes. The staff said they are old products and therefore in sale. Top little camera. Thye had silver and pink in but where the pink ones were there was a price tag of £136 but no price tag on silver ones so i got them to scan the sllver one and as poster states it was £99.99

The pink one is 100 as well - I went last night to try and bag a cheap laptop (unsuccessfully) but noticed a pink Ixus 80 IS had appeared which wasn't there when I'd been looking a few days ago. The tag showed 140 pounds but that had an expiry day of 20/01/2009, they tried scanning the box but it wouldn't go through - eventually they manually typed in a portion of the code and it came up at 100 quid so I've bought one for a friend, seems to be a solid little camera for the price.

damn I missed this one.

I have the Ixus 30 (similar shell) and I love it, was thinking of passing it off to my family and getting one of these ones!!!

Are there any left in Milton Keynes or nearby? I phoned CS and it appears not but you never know.
#31
I checked, and there are none at the Gatwick Tesco Extra store.

got one from Tesco Surrey Queys - they had about 4 left

Grabbed a silver one at my nearest branch. Going to read some reviews for it now. Yes I know I've done it backwards but I didn't want to do the reading and miss the deal in the mean time :-D
