There's an experimental port of the CHDK firmware extension for this camera - see http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/IXUS960IS - for those who'd like to extend its capabilities a bit. It's not in the "main" releases yet though so it's possible that it will be a little flakey for a while.

This camera was reviewed by Trusted Reviews at £240 and got 9/10s on all counts except value, which, at £150 with a case, is certainly good for the money.

Hot.

great camera
#5
I have got the Ixus 950is, would this be a worthwile upgrade?
#6
i know what you mean...i had my eyes on this for a long time...until i thought the ixus was a steal at £142 last month...so regret it! the ixus 85 is great but the 960 is simple class :(

I knew you could upgrade the 300D firmware, I didn't know there was firmware for other models. That's very cool.

Do you know of anything for Fuji (while I go off to search...)?

i have the 10mp, £200 in July for my b'day! i think the more the mp, the more the camera struggles to keep up!photos are still a bit noisy with the 10

is this a better camera than the Sony DSCT2W ?

given its a canon i'd say yes by experience! plus normally 12.1mp camera should also offer you the option of taking pictures of lower resolution e.g. 10mp, 8mp, 6mp.

at this price this is a bargain! its been sitting at £200+ for a long time,

When considering a Canon camera, have a look at the Canon Outlet Shop on eBay.

Over the years, I have bought four cameras and a printer at absolutely bargain prices through their auctions, with never a complaint.

The items I bought have been "as new" and carry a full 12 months guarantee.

Hot hot hot! Been waiting for a nice cheap Ixus to come along to complement my 450D. Heat added and ordered, thanks.
#16
Just ordered one to replace my IXUS 700. Great price and great cameras.

I want the anti-blur solution.... for my photos :)
#17
I have one - excellent photos and lovely build quality. Can't recommend it enough at this price!
#18
I wouldn't pay £150 for a point and shoot, but Canon Ixus models are great. I have the Ixus 80IS, £110 was a good price. Just about the limit I was prepared to pay, and a better camera than I expected to get for the money.

Apologies if i'm sticking my oar in where I shouldn't be, but why is this showing as expired? it's still available at this price...

#25

If you paid £150 to get a refund:

Go to this link and sign in:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/contact-us/returns-and-refunds.html

Place a tick next the camera.

Click the 'contact amazon'

Change the issue to 'Refund Enquiry'

State the camera price has dopped within 1 week of you buying it, and that you wish for the £20 to be refunded.

I placed the Order number #: ***-*******-******* in the message too.

They replied in about 2 hours, saying they will refund the difference, but also the below:

===========================================================================

I have requested a refund of 20.00 GBP to your payment card. This amount is the difference between the price you were charged and the new, lower price. The refund should appear as a credit on your next bank statement. Completed refunds information can be viewed when you visit "Your Account" once you've received a confirmation e-mail from us. Under "Where's My Stuff?" click "Go" next to "Open and recently dispatched orders" and sign in with your e-mail address and password. The refund information will be visible at the bottom of the relevant order's summary page.

Please note that only orders placed on or before September 1, 2008 are eligible for a price difference refund under the Post-Order Price Guarantee policy. However, we do continue to offer our Pre-order price guarantee.

===========================================================================

Looks like they are doing away with the 'Price Guarantee policy' :-(

. . .Did anyone get the case with this?
My camera turned up without the case. Amazon told me to reorder the case and they would refund or discount.
. . the case on the link http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000BGE3LA is now £27! I'm sure it wasn't that when the offer was on; - is the link the same case that was in the offer?
#28
. . did anyone get the camera case with their order?
was it the same lowpro camera pouch (Lowepro Ridge 20 Digital Camera Pouch - Black) as shown on the link http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000BGE3LA?
#29
Price has increased £3 to £132.99..

I have the 850 which has a wide angled lense, wouldn't go back now, does this camera have a wide angled lense?. It doesn't seem to advertise it does, although this maybe pretty standard now?, it does however say there is a widescreen resolution setting.

why is this expired?!!
